About the Role

This role is responsible for the logistics footprint (weekend) across Leven and Shieldhall ensuring excellence in Health & Safety, Compliance and Operational delivery.

This role has responsibility for delivering and embedding a dynamic Health and Safety strategy to manage our onsite 3PL and ensuring adherence to standard methodologies across the weekend shift for both Production sites.

The Contract Manager role partners with the Category Teams, the Weekday Logistics Contract Managers, and other H&S Managers within Global Brand Supply to standardise processes, manage risks and drive compliance to assure product integrity, a safe working environment and service to our customers.  The role is instrumental in Diageo’s journey to become the most trusted and most respected consumer goods company in the world.

The role holder must be able to work independently and manage multi-site operations simultaneously. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate strong people and leadership skills and be a great teammate; you will be working alongside our 3PL partner to champion H&S culture, drive quality standards and execute logistics operations plans.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ownership for the onsite 3PL Health and Safety Programme, along with owning incident investigation to determine root cause and 100year fix

  • Ensure that Diageo’s Quality Strategy for logistics is addressing customer concerns and put in place corrective mitigations.

  • Management of the weekend operations, ensuring adherence to plan and achieving all critical metrics including direct despatch.

  • Appropriate engagement and management with Production Leadership teams

  • Continuous External Benchmarking focusing on trends/efficiencies within the wider logistics sector to drive performance improvements in processes, strategy, and technologies.
     

Experience / skills required:

  • Relevant qualification in Technical or Industrial subject desirable

  • Knowledge and technical expertise in spirits and beers an advantage.

  • Extensive experience within the drinks industry or applicable logistics organisation preferred.

  • Experience of SAP is essential

  • Thought leadership/ Strategic vision/ externally connected/ future orientated.

  • Track record in delivery and strategy/ thought leadership.

  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with and influence partners throughout the organization.

  • Approachable and able to provide clear and concise information.

  • Desirable - Six Sigma Principles

  • Awareness of BCP and risk management techniques

  • Fully aware and of Health & Safety requirements and role models these standards each and every day.

  • Must be a great teammate with proven interpersonal skills. High energy, strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to lead by example.

  • Demonstrated engagement, presentation and influencing skills for large operations
