DRW is a diversified trading firm with over 3 decades of experience bringing sophisticated technology and exceptional people together to operate in markets around the world. We value autonomy and the ability to quickly pivot to capture opportunities, so we operate using our own capital and trading at our own risk.
Headquartered in Chicago with offices throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia, we trade a variety of asset classes including Fixed Income, ETFs, Equities, FX, Commodities and Energy across all major global markets. We have also leveraged our expertise and technology to expand into three non-traditional strategies: real estate, venture capital and cryptoassets.
We operate with respect, curiosity and open minds. The people who thrive here share our belief that it’s not just what we do that matters–it's how we do it. DRW is a place of high expectations, integrity, innovation and a willingness to challenge consensus.
Our Network Infrastructure team works closely with trading desks and software engineers. They are the subject matter experts in the networking domain. They create tools using Python and automate tasks to streamline our environment. They are passionate about providing innovative solutions to our dynamic business. We are seeking a Network Engineer for our London based Network Infrastructure Team.
As a Network Engineer at DRW, you will:
- Responsible for network architecture, implementation, and operations with the primary focus on EMEA network infrastructure but also contributing to the other regions and the global DRW network.
- Work closely with our Operations Center to troubleshoot complex network infrastructure related issues.
- Partner with trading desks and business units to identify future projects and areas of improvement.
- Embrace and contribute to network automaton and monitoring.
Your background:
- Minimum 3 years of Network Engineering experience. Trading or finance industry experience is a plus.
- CCNP certification or equivalent experience.
- Have a relentless tenacity for solving complex technical problems when others would have long ago waived a white flag.
- Desire to learn Python, Golang, and other programming languages.
- Have a virtual tool belt of proven knowledge that encompasses many of the following areas: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, Multicast, Security, and more.
- Ideally you have experience with timing infrastructure such as GPS, White Rabbit, PTP, and NTP but it is not required.
- Ok with some on-call, night and weekend work and not afraid to get your hands dirty (don't worry, we believe in planning these things to maintain balance across the team).
- Passionate about high-quality work and relentlessly pursue continuous improvement.
- Good with people; able to explain complex problems in a non-techie way for others to understand, both in writing and verbally.
- Want to be part of a great team. You enjoy sharing ideas, collaborating on projects, and having fun while doing it!
What you'll be working on:
- Collaborating with internal groups to gather requirements, propose designs, implement solutions and support our global environment.
- Using cutting edge networking equipment including routers, switches, timing servers, and more.
- Applying scripting languages to networking in order to build tools and automate (we like automation!).
- Improving our support tools and processes to enhance our monitoring and automation efforts.
- Contribute to networking projects using a team-oriented approach.
