JOB TITLE: Oversight Risk Manager Customer Communications & Financial Promotions

SALARY: £65,385 - £72,650

LOCATION(S): Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, Halifax, Chester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites

We’ve put in place a fresh operating model for Non-Financial risk management across the Group, empowering our people to take end-to-end accountability for managing the risks that they face. We changed how we approach risk management, and in second line we created a team of risk specialists within ‘Customer & Product’ to support the Group in how it manages its conduct risks so that we deliver great customer outcomes.

We’re looking for an individual to join a second-line team of compliance risk specialists that will support and challenge the Group in adhering with regulatory requirements in relation to financial promotions, as well as a centre of excellence for compliance advice for Competition and Markets Authority rules and guidance.

We are looking for candidates who are innovative and transformational who love proactively working with the business.

The perfect candidate will have experience in this risk specialism but, that perfect candidate may not exist so if you a strong risk manager with experience of providing compliance and policy advice or have strong second-line compliance or legal experience then we would love to hear from you. Don’t discount yourself if you don’t meet all the criteria.

Key accountabilities:

• Responsible for defining, developing and implementing a clear and comprehensive risk appetite that outlines risk tolerances and risk limits, defining guardrails and control objectives.

• Providing regulatory advice to first-line (particularly the first-line CMA and Financial Promotions teams) and supporting with regulatory engagement

• Change Oversight of material/significant projects and associated execution/delivery risks.

• Oversight and challenge of risk data.

• Rectification/Remediation oversight – ensuring timely action taken to address control weaknesses and customer detriment.

• Deep dives into specific problems, making and agreeing recommendations for improvement.

• Writing reports which are succinct and impactful.

• Staying abreast of external environment and regulatory developments and Inputting to regulatory consultations and supporting first-line CMA and Financial Promotions teams to introduce vital changes.

• Working across the broader Compliance, Conduct & Operational Risk team collaborating to achieve strategic priorities for the function.

• Continuously monitor the risk landscape for changes to existing risks and identification of new, emerging risks.

• Whilst working at pace, juggling multiple activities concurrently and being responsible for proactively developing self and supporting others across the team.

What you’ll need:

• Experience of working in a second-line compliance or legal environment.

• Knowledge of Financial Promotion rules, advertising standards and the Consumer Duty Sourcebook with the ability to provide challenge and advice and with the ability to present clear and practical examples of application of these regulations in an increasing digital and agile world.

• Knowledge of CMA rules and guidance, specifically around the Retail Banking Order, including interpretation and traceability, regulatory engagement, and delivery of compliance advice.
