Are you a seasoned Energy Market Modeller with experience in team leadership and Power & Renewables transactions? If so, please read on!
Role Purpose
We are looking for a dynamic individual to join this newly created team, focused on providing price projections and other key inputs for Power & Renewables financing and transaction activities of large investors, banks and the project development units of large energy companies. In this role, you will apply and continuously develop a suite of transaction/valuation support solutions to provide companies and deal teams with fast and comprehensive data inputs, price projections and sensitivity analyses, building on our market-leading data and modelling services.
Main Responsibilities
Initially you will be working with other members of the Transaction Support team and our broader research groups, to build out the suite of transaction support offerings for European Power & Renewables clients. You will also engage with thought leaders from other Wood Mackenzie units to drive and enhance development of specific aspects of the Transaction Support Service and its interplay with neighbouring units. Once established, your tasks will expand to delivering and co-managing client assignments and further content creation. You will also support the shaping and pitching of client engagements and supporting business development activity.
Please note this is a hybrid role with a mix of working from home and regular office presence in one of our offices in Spain, Germany or the UK. Some travel will be expected as part of the role.
About You
- You have 6+ years of experience in Europe’s Power & Renewables markets, with a strong understanding of power plant technologies, operations, and economics.
- You are well-versed in financial modelling and valuation techniques within power and renewables, and you have solid experience of project management on transactions and/or valuations within the sector – ideally in a consulting or financial advisory capacity.
- You are an experienced user of power market simulation software (e.g. Plexos, Aurora by Energy Exemplar, BID 3, Origin etc.). Development and coding competence for these models would be advantageous but is not essential.
- You can develop, maintain and confidently present complex projections, data sets and other valuation inputs for various types of power assets, backed by bespoke market modelling and Wood Mackenzie’s data bases.
- You are a strong and inspiring collaborator, able to lead project teams, and have demonstrated skills to utilise diverse talents and experience levels within your team.
- You regularly support and manage work across timezones, countries and cultures.
- You are collaborative, have strong communication skills and an analytical mindset.
- You will have strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Fluency in other European languages is beneficial.

- Act with integrity - behaving ethically, morally and in line with our values.

- Take ownership & accountability - delivering on our commitments and owning the outcome.
- Be agile in change - maintaining high performance through disruption and change.

We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least 2-3 days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment, but this may be subject to change in the future.
The nature of this role precludes it from consideration for part-time or flexible working arrangements.
