Role Purpose

As a Senior Analyst in the Europe Gas & LNG Research team, you will deliver world-class research, data, and insight focusing on the European market including detailed market fundamentals, prices, contracts, investment trends, projects and corporate insights, ranging from coverage of current market events through to the role of gas and gas assets in the energy transition. The role requires a mix of analytical work, client relationship, strategic planning, and coaching capabilities to create value for our clients and Wood Mackenzie.

The Gas & LNG research practice at Wood Mackenzie leverages unique, proprietary information and modelling to serve clients, and together we work with a range of clients including national and major oil companies, utilities, investment banks, and institutional investors. Main Responsibilities

Content development

  • Support the development of our Europe gas markets outlooks through detailed analysis, demonstrating ownership of our views that can be clearly communicated to clients.

  • Leverage and further enhance our Wood Mackenzie’s commodity market models to develop our European gas market outlooks

  • Lean on existing subject matter expertise to deliver high quality commercial insight.

  • Lead wider projects and new initiatives across the gas and LNG business.

  • Ensure the alignment of Gas and LNG research with the wider commodities view.

  • Provide input into the integrated update cycle on key market events, trends and assumptions to be consider as part our analysis.

Client facing and business growth

  • Work with the Europe Gas & LNG markets team to develop the strategy for future European gas offerings, considering the potential for broader commercial opportunities across our global gas and LNG business.

  • Establish senior-level contacts with key clients to understand their business priorities and translate this into commercially focused analysis and data.

  • Present our view and regularly gather client feedback as to how our analysis and insight supports their business.

  • Work with client and product managers and consulting to generate new research, sales and consulting opportunities.

  • Support marketing efforts: publications, internal and external events, press briefings and social media to drive commercial growth.

Resource development

  • Support the ongoing development and learning of the Europe Gas & LNG markets team, providing guidance and coaching as necessary to help everyone excel.

  • Contribute to a positive team culture in European team, in line with the Gas & LNG subsegment values and behaviours.

About You

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in Europe gas markets research or other strategic/commercial role (i.e. market analysis, business development, strategy & planning) related to gas and LNG.

  • Strong and established understanding of gas market fundamentals and influences on regional markets.

  • Demonstrated experience creating and/or operating supply, demand, and storage models.

  • Strong presentation skills, including comfort with presenting strategic insight to senior management and potential for public speaking engagements at industry conferences.

  • Ability to support sales to prospects and existing clients.

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience on European gas supply, pipeline flows and operations would be a plus.

Expectations

  • We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment, but this may be subject to change in the future.

  • Due to the global nature of the team, a degree of flexible working will be required to accommodate different time zones.
