THE ROLE 


Thrive Market is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and results-driven Principal, Owned Brand Merchandising & Development to drive the strategy, product development, and growth of our Owned Brand Snack portfolio. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in product development, sourcing, supplier negotiations, and product commercialization within the CPG and retail industries.


We are seeking a mission-driven individual who is passionate about creating exceptional products and thrives in a collaborative environment. Success in this role requires an entrepreneurial spirit and strong communication and teamwork, as you will work closely with various teams across Thrive Market, including Branded Category Management, Marketing & Creative, and Supply Chain among others.


This role will report into the Head of Owned Brand.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive assortment strategy for Thrive Market’s Owned Brand Snack portfolio, aligning with company objectives and market trends to achieve growth targets.
  • Own the OKRs for the Owned Brand Snacks category, driving profitability and revenue growth through data-driven decision-making and strategic, proactive planning.
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle for snacks, from ideation and development to launch and post-launch performance analysis, ensuring products meet quality, margin, and sustainability standards.
  • Lead a multi-year product innovation pipeline for the snack category, focusing on kids' snacking. Respond to market trends and consumer needs to establish Thrive Market as a leader in the snack space.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with suppliers and vendors to ensure long-term collaboration, cost efficiency, and high-quality product delivery, with a focus on consistency and efficiency in the supply chain.
  • Ensure all Owned Brand snack products meet the highest quality, safety, and regulatory standards while aligning product development and sourcing strategies with Thrive Market's sustainability goals and commitment to ethical sourcing practices and environmental responsibility
  • Leverage consumer insights and data analytics to inform product development, pricing strategies, and marketing tactics, ensuring products resonate with Thrive Market's health-conscious members.
  • Lead snack focused Owned Brand initiatives and go-to-market campaigns on behalf of the Owned Brand team including the Thrive Market Brand Baby & Kids Food strategy. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience in product development, sourcing, merchandising, and brand management, with 3+ years in a lead or principal capacity owning the end-to-end development and commercialization owned brand process.
  • Strong background in product development within the food industry, preferably within snacking categories. 
  • Proven experience building and maintaining strategic supplier relationships, with expertise in negotiation, cost management, and ensuring supply chain efficiencies.
  • Expertise in quality assurance practices, regulatory compliance, and food safety standards, with the ability to ensure products meet or exceed industry standards in partnership with Thrive Market’s Product Safety & Quality team.
  • Deep understanding of market trends, consumer behaviors, and competitive dynamics within the snack and wellness industries, with the ability to turn insights into actionable strategies.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, fostering collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Passion for health, wellness, and sustainable products, aligning with Thrive Market’s high-quality and ethical product standards.
  • Ability to travel

JOB INFORMATION

  • Compensation Description - The base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $150,000/Per Year
  • Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and geographic location. 
  • Total Compensation includes Base Salary, Stock Options, Health and Wellness Benefits, Flexible PTO, and more!
