The Role
As Product Counsel for Cash App, handling consumer protection issues, you'll have a broad range of responsibilities providing legal guidance on issues such as disputes, complaints, customer remediations, scams, fraud and other consumer protection issues. Our Primary Product offerings that you would be involved with include: Banking Products (such as Cash App Card, deposits, wire transfers, savings yield, free overdraft coverage), Lending Products (such as our buy now pay letter products), Remittances, Cash App Taxes, Cash for Families, Bitcoin, Peer-to-Peer, Cash for Business, Cash App Pay, and Afterpay. As we expand, your ideas and contributions will make an immediate and meaningful impact.
You Will
- Provide guidance to product, customer support and other teams on consumer protection issues such as disputes, customer remediation, fraud and complaints.
- Develop trusted relationship with partners and stay informed on important product developments
- Draft and review policies related to consumer protection issues.
- Draft and review customer communications.
- Work with other support teams (tax, compliance, accounting, and outside counsel) to provide seamless support to partners.
- Cultivate creative ideas and insights into how legal frameworks can support new product developments and customer experiences.
You Have
- 5+ years of combined, relevant experience in law firms, governmental agencies, or in-house legal departments
- Fluency translating legal advice into applicable guidance
- Familiarity with launching and marketing products and advising on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development in the technology space
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in at least one state bar
- Experience in financial services consumer protection laws (Regulation E, UDAAP, UDAP)
- Experience dealing with disputes and/or complaints
- Excellent drafting skills
