As the Product Manager for Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM), you will own the product strategy and execution for Percona's open source observability platform for databases. You will work closely with engineering, design, product leadership, customers, and the open source community to define the future of PMM.

This is a highly technical product role. Our users are database administrators, SREs, platform engineers, DevOps engineers, cloud engineers, and developers who rely on PMM to monitor and optimize mission-critical database environments.

We're looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who enjoys moving quickly, talking to customers, validating ideas early, and iterating rapidly. This is not a role where you'll spend months writing specifications before shipping. We value experimentation, pragmatism, and delivering customer value.

What Will You Do

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for PMM, ensuring it aligns with Percona's overall product vision.

  • Work directly with customers and the community to understand their challenges, validate ideas, and identify new product opportunities.

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to help shape product direction.

  • Translate customer problems into clear product requirements and priorities.

  • Work closely with Engineering, Design, Documentation, Marketing, and Customer Success to deliver outstanding product experiences.

  • Prioritize features and make informed trade-offs based on customer value, engineering effort, and strategic goals.

  • Define success metrics and use customer feedback, product telemetry, and usage data to guide product decisions.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering throughout the entire product lifecycle, from discovery to release.

  • Represent PMM internally and externally through blog posts, webinars, conferences, customer meetings, and community engagement.

  • Help drive the adoption of PMM across the open source community and enterprise organizations.

What You Have Done

  • Proven success managing technical products, particularly developer tools, infrastructure, platform, or observability products.

  • Demonstrated experience shipping successful software products from idea to release.

  • Strong technical understanding of modern infrastructure, databases, cloud-native, and observability technologies, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into product strategy and customer value.

  • Experience working cross-functionally across engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer success.

  • Strong customer empathy with the ability to translate customer problems into products that deliver real value.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, making decisions with incomplete information, and iterating quickly based on customer feedback.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer visits, conferences, and company events.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Experience with observability technologies such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, VictoriaMetrics, or similar platforms.

  • Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other data platforms.

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Linux, cloud-native technologies, and distributed systems.

  • Experience working with open source communities as an active contributor or community member.

  • Experience building products for developers, SREs, platform engineers, DevOps engineers, database administrators, or other highly technical users.

  • Experience defining AI-powered workflows, developer productivity tools, or AI-assisted observability experiences.

  • Experience working in startups or high-growth companies where rapid iteration, experimentation, and customer feedback drive product decisions.

  • Comfortable taking ownership and wearing multiple hats in a small, collaborative team.

  • Passion for open source and building products in close partnership with engineering and the community.
