Job Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of specific automation/tooling projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards.
The role will play a critical role in coordinating cross-functional teams, managing customer relationships, and driving continuous improvement in our project management processes.
The scope of the role will be automotive automation/tooling programs, where it will be necessary to use strong technical and people skills to manage customer programmes from design / concept stage through installation and commissioning of automated assembly equipment and /or tooling.
The role involves but is not limited to:-
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate project timing plans, using Microsoft Project.
  • Manage and track open issue lists and ensure timely resolution.
  • Oversee all phases of automation cell projects including mechanical and electrical assembly, design reviews, software integration (PLC & Robotics), and commissioning.
  • Act as the key point of contact for the customer.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and maintain a high level of accountability.
  • Attend on-site installations and commissioning activities as needed.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Provide regular project updates and reports to stakeholders.
  • Promote safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Including, but not limited to: Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others; co-operating with Managers or any other person, to perform or comply with any requirement or duty imposed under a relevant statutory provision; To not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare.
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested.

Essential Experience:
  • Proven background in mechanical and electrical assembly environments
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and project management tools (specifically Microsoft Project)
  • Time-served apprenticeship in engineering or related discipline
  • 5 years experience within the Body in White industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of 2D & 3D CAD, GD&T, and design principles
  • Experience with robotics and PLC systems

Desirable Experience:
  • Formal qualifications in project management (Prince2, Agile)
  • Experience with major automation suppliers (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Siemens etc.).
  • Understanding of control of contractors.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in international project delivery and logistics (Import/Export).
  • Knowledge of CE marking, health and safety, and industrial standards.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Working knowledge of 2D and 3D design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor).
