We’re looking for a Financial QA Engineer who blends exploratory testing with pragmatic automation to safeguard quality across the trading lifecycle—market data, pre-trade checks, execution algorithms and post-trade insights.
Responsibilities- Define test strategy across the SDLC; drive release readiness and production validation.
- Create concise test plans/charters and build tests (functional, exploratory, regression) to uncover issues fast.
- Design and run non-functional testing (performance, latency, resiliency, failover, soak) that mirrors live market conditions.
- Validate pricing/volume metrics and benchmarks (e.g., arrival, VWAP), allocations, and P&L; ensure end-to-end data integrity.
- Triage defects by impact; produce clear repro steps, logs/metrics, and documentation with full traceability.
- Recommend UX and workflow improvements.
- Build and maintain API/service/UI automation.
- Partner with engineers/product to add guardrails, health checks, and observability; contribute to RCAs (Root Cause Analysis) and preventive tests.
- Track industry trends and competitor approaches to inform test strategy and product quality.
- 4–8+ years in QA/Quality Engineering within fintech, trading, or market infrastructure.
- Strong exploratory tester with solid manual + automated techniques.
- Automation testing in Python/JavaScript/Java
- API testing across REST and WebSockets; familiarity with FIX workflows (orders/executions, drop copy) and JSON or XML
- CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions/Jenkins/TeamCity); version control with Git.
- Cloud/observability familiarity (AWS/GCP, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Prometheus/Grafana, Kibana/Datadog).
- Clear communicator—comfortable with engineers, product, clients, and leadership; calm under pressure
- Experience with one or more asset classes: equities, options, futures, FX, fixed income, ETFs, or digital assets.
- Knowledge of execution algos, risk and portfolio management tools
- FIX certification/interop; experience building or testing exchange simulators.
- Practical use of AI dev tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) for faster test creation and review.
- Awareness of regulatory/controls environments (MiFID II, Reg NMS, best-ex, SOC 2).
