We're looking for a Research Scientist to help us accomplish our mission to improve and extend lives by learning from the experience of every person with cancer. Are you ready to be the next changemaker in cancer care?
Flatiron Health is a healthtech company using data for good to power smarter care for every person with cancer, around the world. Flatiron partners with cancer centers in the US, Europe and Asia to transform patients' real-life experiences into real-world evidence and create a more modern, connected oncology ecosystem. Our multidisciplinary teams include oncologists, data scientists, software engineers, epidemiologists, product experts and more. Flatiron Health is an independent affiliate of the Roche Group.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will work as a member of the Research Sciences (RS) department, primarily supporting our work in the UK, Germany, and Japan. This team provides customized real-world data and real-world evidence solutions to address the most important research questions across clinical development, market access, and commercial use cases for our life sciences partners. In this role, you will:
  • Develop subject matter expertise in real-world oncology data to support data product development and evidence generation.
  • Design and conduct in-depth analyses to assess data quality and fitness-for-use for real-world evidence generation in the international markets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including epidemiologists, data scientists, and oncologists, to refine methodologies and ensure rigorous study execution.
  • Implement statistical analyses by translating analytic specifications from a statistical analysis plan into R code to generate descriptive and inferential statistics and develop visualizations.
  • Contribute to external scientific publications, including manuscripts and conference abstracts, to advance the field of oncology real-world evidence.
  • Stay current with epidemiological and statistical methodologies for analyzing observational real-world data and deepen expertise in cancer biology, therapies, and outcomes across multiple tumor types.

Who You Are
You're a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who values the opportunity to think beyond the way things are. In addition, you're an analytical thinker and excellent communicator with experience or interest in supporting design and execution of real-world studies that support use cases across the Oncology product development life cycle. You are excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves to tackle meaningful problems each and every day.
  • You hold a PhD degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Health Economics and Outcomes Research, or a closely related field with 2 - 3 years of relevant experience (can include work experience before graduate school) or a Master's degree in one of these fields with 4 - 5 years of relevant experience
  • You have a deep understanding of observational data (e.g., registries, healthcare claims, or electronic health records) and have a track record of success applying epidemiologic approaches to problems in public health and/or pharmacoepidemiology
  • You have experience working in a pharmaceutical, HEOR consulting, healthcare analytics, or academic research environment
  • You're proficient at coding in R
  • You have strong communication skills, with experience contributing to study documentation
  • You have effective organizational, time-management, and prioritization and skills necessary to contribute to multiple high-visibility projects in a timely fashion
  • You have an agile mindset and adapt quickly to changes in project direction
  • You are able to quickly learn and apply new information, skills and procedures
  • You are passionate about our mission to improve healthcare through technology

Optional
  • You have oncology experience
