MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE BUSINESS: 

 

As a RAI & AI Adoption Consultant at Kainos, you’ll be responsible for the successful delivery of Responsible AI and AI Adoption within the business. Support efforts to position Kainos as a leader in AI Adoption and Responsible AI practices both in terms of stakeholder engagement and project delivery. You will drive the adoption of Responsible AI and work to shape impactful strategies, engage with policymakers, influence regulatory developments, and promote Kainos’ Responsible AI practices to accelerate wider public sector AI Adoption. You will keep track of the latest developments in AI policy, standards, and regulation including consultations, as well as implementation efforts. Your role will involve working directly on client projects and advising clients about Responsible AI, with a focus on ethics, trust, human-centric design, governance, and security. In this capacity, you will work alongside various teams, and act as a subject matter expert in these areas, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and engineering excellence. 

 

You will manage, coach and develop the team, with a focus on development, customer relationships and embedding commercial acumen. You will also provide direction and leadership for the team as you solve challenging problems together. 

 

 

MINIMUM (ESSENTIAL) REQUIREMENTS: 

 

  • Demonstrable experience shaping AI policy.  

  • Demonstrable experience shaping and delivering impactful strategies for engagement with policymakers and public sector and health organisations. 

  • Deep industry connections across relevant public sector and health government bodies such as DSIT, Central Government, DEFRA, DWP, DBT including high-level officials. 

  • Deep industry connections with UK AI industry bodies, think tanks, research groups, and wider AI ecosystem including at board level. 

  • Knowledge of AI adoption challenges and Responsible AI principles and practices such as ethics, trust, human-centred design, governance, and security.  

  • Experience operationalising Responsible AI in areas including as ethics, human-centred design, trust, governance, and security. 

  • Experience with human-centred design elements such as impact assessments, interaction workflows, fallback mechanisms, redress, field studies, risk evaluation and mitigation, designing feedback loops, and facilitating cultural change to adoption barriers; or 

  • Experience with trustworthy AI elements such as testing and correcting AI for fairness, safety, transparency, explainability, or bias; or 

  • Experience with security elements such as red-teaming AI services for bias or data protection, securing RAG-based tools against attacks, AI third party risks and mitigations, or operational resilience; or 

  • Experience with ethics, risk management, and governance such as impact assessments, sustainability impact, guardrails, risk mitigations, beach-marking, agentic governance, and regulatory analysis.  

  • Collaborative approach and team-attitude. 

  • We are passionate about developing people, you will bring experience in managing, coaching and developing junior members of a team and wider community. 

 

 

DESIRABLE: 

 

  • Industry or technical certifications in AI. 

  • Membership within public sector or international working groups. 

  • Customer-facing experience with public sector or health organisations. 

  • Deep industry connections with European public sector officials, industry bodies, nongovernmental organisations, international organisations. 

  • Experience of shaping commercial Responsible AI offerings, winning AI work and wider pre-sales support.
