Role Purpose
Wood Mackenzie Power and Renewables provides integrated subscription, research and advisory services to inform and support our client’s commercial and strategic decisions in the complex and rapidly changing electric power industry.
Combining our deep knowledge of solar, wind, storage, and grid technologies, with our global power and fuels modelling and analytical capabilities, Wood Mackenzie can provide data and insight spanning supply chain, technology costs, policy and market issues, fundamentals-based outlooks, price forecasting, asset valuation, and commodity market issues.
This role will serve as part of Wood Mackenzie’s Power and Renewables Supply Chain team, with a focus on capex modelling for onshore and offshore wind. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading team and play a key role in supporting the global wind sector in navigating the changing landscape for wind prices through shaping market-leading tools. You will have a global remit and be working with both the global wind team and cross-technology supply chain intelligence team. You will provide market intelligence and analysis for companies across the renewable energy value chain, including asset owners, developers, suppliers, investors and policy-makers. Through this role, you will not only help companies achieve their strategic goals; you will also have a meaningful impact on the wider energy transition.
Wood Mackenzie is a leading intelligence provider across global commodity markets. You will have access to proprietary datasets spanning the entire commodities value chain, including more than 15 years of wind energy research, in-house metals and mining teams and experts, indices and cost data from our supply chain intelligence team that you can leverage every day.
Main Responsibilities
Capex modelling for offshore and onshore wind
- Shape and deepen Wood Mackenzie’s capex modelling primarily for offshore wind but also onshore wind – regarding both structure and content.
- Collaborate with internal and external renewable energy market experts globally to develop market-leading cost estimation tools for the P&R sector.
- Monitor and maintain relevant data through secondary and primary research.
- Ensure that data quality, consistency and accuracy reflect market realities.
Research, Analysis and Report writing
- Lead and contribute to thought-leading research publications.
- Ensure all deliverables are executed and delivered in a timely fashion to a high standard.
Networking and Industry collaboration
- Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker;
- Maintain and expand strong relationships with key stakeholders in the industry and clients.
- Strengthen your own brand and the Wood Mackenzie brand by speaking at conferences and engaging with the media.
Consulting engagement
- Support specific consulting advisory assignments across the wind energy sector.
Business Development
- Work directly with sales and marketing via internal and external communications to actively help generate new sales, build larger programs for existing clients, and effectively market completed research.
- Present at Wood Mackenzie and industry-sponsored events, and moderate client webinars.
About You
- Proven hands-on experience working with wind cost modelling.
- Intimately familiar with wind cost developments at the component level, and an understanding of what is driving existing and future cost trends.
- Ability to take complex data and analysis and turn it into actionable insights.
- Excellent problem-solving, documentation, communication and organization skills, and attention to detail.
- Self-driven. Capable of switching between the roles of an individual contributor and a collaborator.
- An engaging nature, capable of connecting with co-workers, clients, and industry stakeholders across the globe in a wide range of professional settings including giving presentations.
- Strong listening, critical thinking, presentation and writing skills.
