Job Title: Senior Data Management Specialist

Division: Data Strategy & Services

Department: Intelligence & Digital

  • Salary: National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £52,400 to £61,800 and London from £57,700 to £68,000 (salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

The Data, Technology and Innovation division enables the FCA to be a digital-first, data-led smart regulator by delivering a secure, agile, and cost-effective technology and data ecosystem that drives better decisions, transparency, and operational efficiency.

The Data Strategy and Services team support providing central data services through the Data Front Door, setting best practice and supports the organisation on Data acquisition, quality remediation, management and sharing.

Role responsibilities

  • Support the development and delivery of data management principles and services across the FCA while guiding business areas to adopt best practices

  • Contribute to the design, implementation and measurement of data risk controls and mitigations to strengthen organisational resilience

  • Play an active role in shaping data management policy, processes and education for data consumers across the organisation

  • Drive stakeholder engagement to define business metadata and build a clear understanding of how data is used within the FCA

  • Monitor and support compliance with data management policy while maintaining accurate governance documentation including glossaries, ownership models and standards

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to embed data ownership, stewardship and accountability and champion effective data governance throughout the organisation

  • Influence the delivery of the FCA Data Strategy by improving data quality and implementing controls that ensure data is fit for critical business processes

Skills required  

Minimum:

  • Proven experience in managing data risk and implementing robust data risk controls across large-scale organisations

  • Prior experience in driving complex Data Management implementations

  • Proven experience in Data Management practices and approaches with hands-on exposure to Data Management tools

  • Experience with Data Governance implementations and work products such as data dictionaries and more

Essential:

  • Understanding and experience of Data Management concepts such as metadata management, reference and master data and data quality

  • Possessing strong knowledge of IDMC or other data management systems, ensuring compliance with FCA data handling standards

  • Deep understanding of data governance principles, metadata and stewardship

  • Ability to produce concise and persuasive written outputs and verbally convey any issues

  • Demonstrating ability to think strategically, contributing to both team-level as well as departmental-wide priorities

  • Experience of troubleshooting data issues and providing solutions
