Fuel your passion
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be part of a cross‑disciplinary technology development team focused on developing 2D and 3D image processing and measurement algorithms for remote visual inspection applications. The role is research‑ and engineering‑heavy, with primary focus on lower TRL development (TRL 3–6), progressing concepts from feasibility through prototype and early productization, with some engagement outside this range.
You will work closely with software, systems, and hardware engineers, product management, and internal and external customers to develop robust, scalable algorithmic solutions that can transition into commercially viable products.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you be responsible for a team that:
- Develop 2D and 3D image processing, computer vision, and measurement algorithms to support remote visual inspection systems.
- Lead and contribute to lower‑TRL technical development (TRL 3–6), including feasibility studies, algorithm prototyping, and performance characterization.
- Apply systems engineering principles to ensure algorithms integrate effectively into larger inspection systems and workflows.
- Work alongside software engineers to transition algorithms into deployable, production‑ready solutions.
- Perform exploratory, targeted, and validation data analysis using appropriate statistical and analytical methods.
- Collaborate with data and software engineers on data quality assessment, data preparation, and algorithm validation.
- Plan and manage your own technical tasks and project work, balancing multiple priorities with limited oversight.
- Generate technical documentation, reports, and annotated code to document development work and results.
- Communicate results, trade‑offs, and recommendations clearly to technical teams, product leadership, and customers.
- Engage directly with internal and external customers to understand use cases, constraints, and performance needs.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of professional experience in data science, applied mathematics, image processing, or related technical roles.
- Demonstrated experience developing and validating algorithms intended for real‑world engineering systems.
- Strong fundamentals in applied mathematics, statistics, and algorithm development.
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming or analytical languages (e.g., Python, C++, MATLAB, R).
- Experience with 2D/3D image processing, computer vision, or measurement algorithms.
- Demonstrated ability to work across research and applied engineering environments.
- Ability to translate ambiguous customer or system needs into clear technical approaches.
- Experience working across teams and disciplines in a product‑oriented environment.
- Awareness of data management, version control, and reproducible development practices.
- Awareness of real‑time or near‑real‑time analytics and algorithm deployment constraints.
- Familiarity with system‑level performance considerations (accuracy, latency, robustness).
