We are Multiplayer! We design and build products that work for people, so people can do their best work.
We design product experiences that bring purpose and pleasure to everyday tasks. Working side by side with our clients, we help rapidly build their internal design capabilities. And we’re dedicated to fostering happiness in our own culture and in every client relationship.
We believe happiness is good business. When people are happier at work, they perform better, think smarter, and achieve more. This belief powers our approach, which we call Happiness by Design.
Let’s build a happier way to work—together.
We're seeking a Senior Design Technology Lead to lead and unite our growing technology practice. This is an in-agency role, the first of its kind, and will work closely with our development partners to ensure alignment across every engagement. Internally, we have a team of technologists and web developers who would report directly into this role, so the ideal candidate is someone who can bring our tech people together in a meaningful way, shape the department's direction, and lead both the delivery and technical strategy that connects design and engineering across everything we do.
Some things you will be responsible for:
Delivery & Operational Leadership
- Shape how your team works and grows. Coach direct reports through goal-setting conversations, build a culture where engineers and designers thrive together, and hold the bar on Multiplayer's quality across workstreams.
- Lead planning and execution across multiple concurrent engagements, managing workstreams, priorities, scope, resourcing, dependencies, risks, and delivery timelines.
- Collaborate closely with development partners to ensure alignment on technical direction, implementation standards, milestones, and project expectations.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies, engineering practices, AI capabilities, and industry trends, introducing improvements where they provide measurable value.
- Ensure Multiplayer’s quality standards are consistently upheld across every engagement, from technical execution through final delivery.
- Create clear technical direction and decision-making frameworks that empower teams to move confidently while maintaining consistency across projects.
Technical Leadership
- Lead the technical direction of projects, making architectural decisions that balance scalability, maintainability, and delivery speed.
- Maintain deep full-stack expertise across frontend, backend, infrastructure, DevOps, deployment pipelines, and modern development platforms.
- Evaluate, implement, and establish best practices for AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and understanding when automation accelerates delivery and when expert engineering judgment is required.
- Build rapid prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and technical explorations using the most appropriate technologies, including hardware integrations and physical computing where applicable.
- Partner closely with designers, strategists, product teams, and clients to translate design intent into clear technical architecture, implementation plans, and engineering requirements.
- Establish engineering standards, code quality expectations, and QA practices that ensure consistent, reliable delivery across all projects.
- Identify technical risks early, communicate trade-offs clearly, and recommend solutions that balance business goals, user experience, and engineering effort.
Last but certainly not least, as a member of our team we hope you embrace and contribute to our culture of continuous creative improvement, innovation, and excellence — and always look for ways to make a positive impact on the team!
