Role description:

As part of a growing and agile business, our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Senior Environmental Consultant with a broad range of EIA experience. You will manage small to medium sized Environmental Impact Assessments projects and work closely with our clients. 

As part of our Environmental team, you’ll help improve quality of life. With your specialism in environmental management, or your technical or sustainability expertise, your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise. And in some of the world’s busiest and most beautiful locations.

Role accountabilities:

  • Championing high standards of environmental performance within multidisciplinary engineering projects, influencing project development, and delivering optimal environmental outcomes
  • Coordinating the delivery of environmental work being undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams across a range of projects
  • Competently undertake your own work to an excellent standard, and review the work of others
  • Proactively managing selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors, quality assurance and client feedback and ensuring effective communication of any changes/modifications
  • Contribute to tender proposal/ bids - working as part of a project winning team
  • Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues
  • Engaging with consultees and stakeholders
  • Working closely with technical specialists
  • Developing outstanding reports - an ability to summarise and explain outcomes to non-technical audiences will be critical for this
  • Managing projects, overseeing our performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A good working knowledge of EIA practices and procedures and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles
  • Experienced across a range of project types, ideally within the energy, residential/mixed use/ regeneration sector, as well as in other major infrastructure projects including rail/ highways
  • Practical working knowledge of the UK planning system and consenting process
  • Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with proven experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary co-ordination of projects, with good project management and technical skills, demonstrated professionalism in the creation and delivery of reports and presentations
  • Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators, and stakeholders
  • Desired: Experience in the delivery of SEA and/ or Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) projects,   Knowledge and application experience of sustainability, waste or carbon assessments
  • Desired: Associate Member of IEMA
