We are seeking an Embedded Engineer to join a non-commercial, EU-funded research project focused on developing drone and robotic systems for reconnaissance and demining operations at sea.
This is a part-time role (10–15% workload), based in Europe, with potential field trials and testing in the Baltic Sea region. The project will run for 3 years and involves hands-on deployment, system validation, and real-world operations.

Requirements
  • Proven experience in developing drone systems and autonomous robotic platforms

  • Expertise in UAV/USV hardware, sensors, and autopilot control (e.g., MAVLink, Ardupilot)

  • Strong background in electronics troubleshooting and hardware reliability

  • Ability to set up and maintain wireless communication systems for UAV/USV platforms

  • Knowledge of AI/ML-based perception and navigation solutions

  • Familiarity with navigation principles (GNSS, ToF, etc.)

  • English level: Upper-Intermediate or higher

Responsibilities
  • Develop and integrate embedded solutions for UAV/USV platforms

  • Participate in launching, testing, and maintaining drone systems during sea trials

  • Troubleshoot electronics and hardware on-site, ensuring operational stability

  • Support prototyping and improvements based on real-world performance

  • Collaborate with engineering teams and project beneficiaries across Europe

  • Ability to work independently in field conditions

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and practical approach

  • Reliability and responsibility for launching, repairing, and maintaining systems

  • Availability for travel and hands-on participation in Baltic Sea field tests
