The Finance Team

At Marshmallow, we’re building a financial services company designed for the future — inclusive, data-driven, and fast growing. The Finance team plays a critical role in enabling that growth by ensuring strong financial control, trusted data, and scalable processes that support decision-making across the business.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Finance Manager to take end-to-end ownership of finance and controllership activities for our Hungarian legal entity, while contributing to group-wide finance initiatives.

This role sits within the Controllership team and reports to the Group Financial Controller, who oversees the wider group structure (UK and Hungary). You’ll be the senior finance lead in Hungary, ensuring robust BAU delivery while driving process improvements and supporting the evolution of the local finance function as the business scales.

What you’ll be doing
  • Entity ownership & controllership

    • Take full ownership of accounting operations, financial controls, and statutory compliance for the Hungarian legal entity

    • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close, balance sheet integrity, and high-quality financial reporting

    • Own the integrity of general accounting activities across AP, AR, GL, payroll, and taxes

    • Act as the local finance SME on Hungarian accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements

  • Statutory, tax & external partners

    • Own all local statutory filings and regulatory returns

    • Manage relationships with external advisors

    • Lead the transition of selected outsourced activities in-house

    • Coordinate transfer pricing matters

  • Leadership & collaboration

    • Lead and develop the local accounting team in Hungary

    • Act as the primary finance point of contact for Hungarian stakeholders

    • Partner closely with the UK-based finance team

  • Process improvement & transformation

    • Drive process improvements across accounting operations and systems

    • Support finance transformation initiatives

  • Planning & wider finance support

    • Support budgeting and forecasting

    • Lead local audit processes

    • Deliver ad-hoc finance projects

Who you are
  • Experience & technical capability

    • 7+ years’ experience in accounting or finance

    • Registered certified accountant qualification (Hungary) – required

    • Strong knowledge of Hungarian GAAP and local tax regulations

    • ERP experience (NetSuite is a plus)

    • Strong Excel skills

    • Financial services experience is an advantage

    • Strong English language skills
