The role

What will you be doing?

Senior IT Auditor
Location: Dorking or Basingstoke
Hybrid Working: Expectation of 2 days per week in the office
We are seeking a Senior IT Auditor to join our growing team at Unum. This position involves managing end to end audit activities across business areas, with a focus on risk-based IT auditing.
The role requires a blend of technical audit expertise, creativity, critical thinking, and the ability to collaborate with both management and peers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to mentor junior staff, drive improvements in audit processes, and contribute to business decisions that reduce risk.
Activities include in depth exposure to IT systems and technical professionals working in digital transformation, including, computer and network hardware, operating systems, networking, programming & software development, web & mobile apps, databases & data analytics, and cybersecurity.

What will you bring?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the team in planning, organising, and researching best practices to assess risk management across various business areas.
  • Perform moderately complex analysis of IT and business data to identify risks and assess control deficiencies.
  • Design and complete testing to evaluate the strength and effectiveness of processes and controls, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulations.
  • Use data analytics to provide comprehensive insights that inform decision-making and help reduce risk within the organisation.
  • Continuously improve the application of audit principles, practices, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance audit effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Use audit management software, data analysis and visualisation tools (such as SQL, Power BI), and productivity software to support audit processes.

Skills and Experience:

  • Audit Expertise: Proven experience with IT auditing
  • Risk-Based IT Auditing: Experience with ITGC testing, SOX testing, and working in a risk-based audit environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with audit management software and data analysis tools. Knowledge of CISA or related certifications (CIA, CISA, etc.) preferred.
  • Relationship Building: Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adaptability: A proactive and positive approach to change, with the ability to embrace new processes and technologies.
