Moving beyond day-to-day oversight, the Senior / Lead Manager dictates the overarching environmental, health, safety, and security strategy, designs the governance framework, aligns multi-national contractor networks with client expectations, and fosters an advanced culture of care and proactive involvement that protects our workforce, our reputation, and the general public.

Role accountabilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & Governance
  • Author, manage, and continuously evolve the project-wide EHS Management System, ensuring seamless integration with client contractual/technical EHS standards, Arcadis standards, and ISO 45001:2018 benchmarks.
  • Provide strategic direction, implementation oversight, and continuous support for the campus EHS & Security Plan.
  • Empower and hold senior line management and contractor leadership strictly accountable for EHS management system implementation and overall performance indicators.
  • Encourage the proactive involvement and engagement of all personnel in executing the site EHS program and embedding a culture of safety.
2. Contractor System Management & Site Oversight
  • Direct the campus EHS strategy across all allocated contractor groups, establishing mandatory minimum EHS standard expectations.
  • Strategically review high-impact Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and site-specific procedures.
  • Verify that project- and site-specific EHS procedures robustly protect both on-site personnel and the general public.
  • Participate actively in compliance audits and weekly planned inspections across the site, ensuring rigorous tracking and timely closure of subsequent action items.
3. Incident Mitigation & Emergency Readiness
  • Ensure all incidents, particularly those involving personal injuries, are thoroughly and appropriately investigated to identify root causes, verifying prompt closure of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Oversee macro-level site performance trends and design systemic corrective actions resulting from incident investigations and inspections, driving corporate risk avoidance.
  • Strategically evaluate and test emergency and fire response frameworks across the campus to guarantee structural resilience, proactive preparedness, and zero-incident operational continuity.
4. Stakeholder Relations, Analytics & Reporting
  • Serve as the primary liaison between client executives, contractor leadership, and regulatory bodies, guaranteeing complete alignment with Finnish, Norwegian, and wider Nordic EHS legislation.
  • Continuously monitor Arcadis and contractor EHS leading/lagging performance indicators and site inspection reports.
  • Evaluate, analyse, and present executive-level performance reports, predictive metrics, and scorecards to drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance evaluations that include personal EHS involvement, compliance, and leadership behaviours.
Strategic Competencies
  • Executive Influence: Proven capacity to influence project directors, client representatives, and diverse multi-tiered contractor groups to prioritize EHS excellence.
  • Analytical Foresight: Ability to leverage predictive metrics and performance trends to anticipate site risks and implement pre-emptive safety interventions.
  • Culture Engineering: Expertise in driving behavioural change, fostering mutual trust, and motivating a large-scale international workforce toward a zero-harm mindset.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Senior Leadership Experience: Extensive experience acting in a Senior or Lead EHS Manager capacity on mega-scale construction or major infrastructure projects.
  • Industry Background: Strong background operating within top-tier consultancies, general contractors, or client-side delivery environments.
  • Data Centre / Tech Expertise: Direct experience delivering hyperscale data centres or complex technology infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Dedication to continuous strategic learning and active CPD (Continuing Professional Development).
  • Core Mindset: Strong technical capability, dedication to teamwork, and a shared passion for transforming built environments and improving quality of life.
