Senior Platform Engineer
Overview:
As a Senior Platform Engineer (specializing in Communication Server), you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our mainframe network infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our z/OS communication environment, including VTAM, TCP/IP, SNA, Sysplex, and related technologies.
Role:• Manage and administer z/OS Communication Server components, including VTAM, TCP/IP,
SNA, Sysplex Distributor, Parallel Sysplex, and z/OS Cryptographic Services.• Implement and support secure communication protocols including AT-TLS (z/OS Policy
Agent-ATTLS), SSL, SFTP, FTPS, and Connect Direct.• Collaborate with application and network teams to integrate z/OS Communication Server technologies
with z/OS WebSphere Servers and other middleware solutions.• Utilize z/OS Unix System Services for integrating mainframe applications with distributed
environments.• Monitor system performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize network
throughput and response times.• Provide expertise and support in mainframe networking technologies and assist in capacity
planning and disaster recovery planning.• Subject to On Call, weekend duties, implementation with customers, and all other duties as assigned.• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in mainframe communication technologies to recommend and implement best practices.
All About You• Minimum 4+ years of experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer specializing in Communication Server technologies.• Strong inter-personal, written, and oral communication skills.• Ability to effectively work with vendors, internal departments, and management.• Ability to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and completely.• Solid understanding and experience with communications server in a z/OS mainframe environment.• Experience with third party vendor products (IBM, Broadcom) a plus.• Knowledge of and experience with IBM monitoring tools a plus (Netview and NetMaster for File Transfer / TCP/IP). • Ability to install, support and diagnose third party software.• Strong programming skills in JCL, REXX, and other programming languages a plus.
