🚀 We’re on a mission to make money work for everyone.

We’re waving goodbye to the complicated and confusing ways of traditional banking.

After starting as a prepaid card, our product offering has grown a lot in the last 10 years in the UK. As well as personal and business bank accounts, we offer joint accounts, accounts for 16-17 year olds, a free kids account and credit cards in the UK, with more exciting things to come beyond. Our UK customers can also save, invest and combine their pensions with us.

With our hot coral cards and get-paid-early feature, combined with financial education on social media and our award winning customer service, we have a long history of creating magical moments for our customers!

⭐ Our Design team

We’re a team of 90+ designers, researchers, and brand experts led by Chief Design Officer Vuokko Aro. We’re on a mission to make money work for everyone. Product Design makes up almost half of our design disciplines, working in tight-knit squads alongside research, product, and engineering to solve real customer problems at scale.

We design for the "magic moments" — we’ve built a bank that feels human, not just functional. Our product is our personality. We blend research, empathy, and craft to turn everyday interactions into memorable experiences.

Right now, we’re growing fast and looking for passionate design leaders to shape Monzo’s future — and there’s a huge opportunity to make your mark.

🔎 About the role

As a Senior Product Design Manager at Monzo, you'll lead and grow a team of talented designers. You’ll roll up your sleeves to support your team through early discovery, workshops, and problem-solving, while setting the strategic direction and vision for your product area. You’ll help to shape our design team, raise the quality bar and deliver meaningful outcomes for our customers, while you partner closely with your counterparts in Product and Engineering, as well as the general manager of your product area.

🔑 You’ll play a key role by...
  • Building and nurturing a high-performing design team — investing in their growth, wellbeing, and long-term success.
  • Maintaining an exceptional quality bar across all design work through clear feedback and coaching, helping designers and teams consistently deliver best-in-class experiences.
  • Setting the strategic direction and design vision for your area, inspiring teams to think bigger and bolder, whilst aligning with Monzo goals and mission.
  • Partnering with Product, Engineering, and the General Manager to define priorities, shape roadmaps, and turn strategy into impactful execution.
  • Jumping in to solve tricky product and design problems, especially in early discovery or when teams need unblocking.
  • Creating an environment where feedback is open, craft is celebrated, and design quality continues to evolve across the organisation.
  • Acting as a champion for design at Monzo, influencing how design thinking shapes our products and culture.

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if...
  • You have experience managing and coaching designers, ideally in a product-led tech environment.
  • You're a hands-on leader operating across a wide range of cross-functional team activities and goals, such as facilitating workshops, shaping a vision or guiding a product direction.
  • You set and uphold a high bar for design quality and craft, with a keen eye for detail and usability.
  • You’re comfortable working across ambiguous problem spaces, helping teams move from exploration to execution.
  • You’re an excellent communicator and collaborator, able to influence product, engineering, and leadership partners.
  • You know what “great” looks like in product design and can inspire teams to get there.
  • You’re excited by Monzo’s mission to make money work for everyone — and want to help us push design further than ever before.

🙌 What’s in it for you
  • 💰 £110,000 - £125,000 ➕ Share Options
  • ✈️ We’ll help you relocate to the UK
  • ✅ We can sponsor your visa
  • 📍 This role can be based in our London office, but we're open to distributed working within the UK (with ad hoc meetings in London)
  • ⏰ Flexible working hours and trust-based work culture
  • 📚 £1,000 annual learning budget for books, training, and conferences
  • 🏡 Full remote setup support, including equipment and workspace essentials
  • ➕ Plus lots more!

This process should take around 4-5 weeks - your schedule is really important to us, so we promise to be as flexible as possible!

We have some guidelines on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ace an application and interview at Monzo. You can read them here.

We’ll only close this role once we have enough applications for the next stage. Please submit your application as soon as possible to make sure you don’t miss out.

What you need to know about the Edinburgh Tech Scene

From traditional pubs and centuries-old universities to sleek shopping malls and glass-paneled office buildings, Edinburgh's architecture reflects its unique blend of history and modernity. But the fusion of past and future isn't just visible in its buildings; it's also shaping the city's economy. Named the United Kingdom's leading technology ecosystem outside of London, Edinburgh plays host to major global companies like Apple and Adobe, as well as a growing number of innovative startups in fields like cybersecurity, finance and healthcare.
