Company mission

In the future, commerce will be instant, local, and seamless. What we now call "e-commerce" will simply be how we shop.
Relay is building the logistics network that e-commerce should have had from the start. We're designed from the ground up for sustainability - environmental, social, and economic. By rethinking both the middle and last mile, we cut miles driven, reduce carbon emissions, lower costs, and return value to local communities.
Behind the scenes, we orchestrate this with cutting-edge tech: from smart routing and real-time planning to seamless tools that empower our ground teams.
We’re not just building the future, we're scaling it fast.

  • We just closed a $35M Series A, the largest ever for a logistics tech startup in Europe.

  • Brands like Vinted, TikTok, and Temu are choosing Relay to power their UK expansion.

  • We're growing at a top 0.01% among all European Series A startups.

About the role

  • As a Senior Product Designer at Relay, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing our design maturity, working closely with Product, Engineering and Data teams to solve meaningful problems and craft impactful design solutions.

  • You'll be instrumental in designing tools for our couriers, store partners and sortation teams, creating elegant, seamless and intuitive experiences. Additionally, you'll collaborate with cross-functional business leaders to help shape product vision and drive innovation.

  • As an early member of Relay’s design team, you’ll play a key role in evolving our design system and defining our design language. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our product experience and leave a lasting impact.

What you’ll do

  • Design impactful products for couriers, store partners and sortation teams within a fast-moving environment.

  • Lead end-to-end design projects, focusing on both UX and UI, including high-fidelity flows, wireframes and visual designs.

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering and Data teams to bring designs to life and ensure a seamless user experience.

  • Conduct user research to gain a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors, leveraging insights to shape and improve experiences.

  • Use data-driven insights and key metrics to inform design decisions and optimise the user journey.

  • Communicate design ideas clearly, influencing stakeholders and guiding discussions toward effective solutions.

  • Contribute to the evolution of our design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across products.

  • Think strategically about the product’s future, shaping the vision for your area and breaking it into actionable steps toward long-term goals.

What we’re looking for

  • 5-8 years of experience in product design, ideally within a product-led environment.

  • Strong skills in UX and UI, with a portfolio showcasing your ability to create impactful, user-centric and visually stunning designs.

  • Experience working with and contributing to design systems.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with product designers, PMs, engineers and cross-functional teams across the business.

  • Comfort in ambiguous spaces and fast-paced environments, navigating challenges with a high level of autonomy.

  • Experience designing for native mobile apps.

  • Ability to drive product vision while delivering iterative improvements.

The qualifications and experiences above act as a loose guide to what we’re looking for. We’d still love to hear from you if you have more or less experience, so long as the core skills can be demonstrated.

About the role

As a highly operational business, we rely on data to guide everything we do. We are a small but impactful data team that works on everything from operations research to optimise thousands of parcel deliveries daily, to detailed business metrics that drive our expansion and investment decisions — and everything in between.

We’re currently hiring two Data Analysts, each focused on a high-impact part of the network: one will work on Last Mile Marketplace, and one will help optimise Quality & Attribution. These roles are an opportunity to apply your analytical skills directly to the design and performance of critical logistics infrastructure as we scale.

You’ll work closely with squads across routing, sortation, first mile, middle mile, last mile, marketplace, and our commercial functions, and collaborate with operations, product, and engineering to identify problems, shape hypotheses, and deliver insight.

You’ll be an embedded contributor within key cross-functional squads, with strong exposure to real-world operations and the opportunity to drive meaningful change through data.

Example Projects

Last Mile Marketplace

  • Matching & Route Discoverability: Understand and optimise how couriers discover and book routes. Analyse booking data to identify what characteristics drive selection; use simulations and experiments to refine how, when, and to whom routes are shown, improving match quality and overall booking efficiency across the network.

  • Product Analytics: Analyse how couriers interact with our Last Mile app across booking funnels and core features. Run experiments to evaluate the impact of visibility, functionality, and interface changes on courier conversion, route uptake, and operational performance. Use this to shape product decisions and drive continuous improvement in courier experience.

Quality and Attribution

  • Build data tools to understand where parcels are going missing or not being received by the customer. Identify and tackle instances of fraud, specifically customers, couriers, or pitstops.

  • Proactively identify key areas for improvement in the network to minimise loss risk, and identify which teams in the business are responsible. Collaborate with Software Engineers to better track where parcels are in the network, and suggest product changes or new data points to improve visibility.

  • Monitor the performance of and suggest improvements to Relay’s AI models that detect proof of delivery compliance.

As a Data Analyst at Relay, you can expect to...

  • Define key performance indicators and build dashboards that make operational performance transparent and actionable

  • Support analysis of operational performance and help identify levers for improvement

  • Translate business problems into analytical questions – and analytical results into clear, actionable recommendations

  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and operators to build data tools and surface performance insights

  • Contribute to scoped data projects from definition to delivery, with support from an experienced team of data professionals

  • Spend time in the operation (e.g. at our sortation warehouse or hubs) to understand how the network works on the ground

We are looking for candidates who have

  • 3+ years of experience as a data analyst or in a similar role

  • Strong SQL skills and experience with BI/data visualisation tools

  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to derive insight from complex data

  • Effective communication skills – you can clearly explain analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • A commercial mindset – you care about impact, not just insight

Nice to haves

  • Experience working with geographic or operational data

  • Experience in operationally intensive, fast-scaling businesses

  • Familiarity with Tableau

  • Basic Python (or similar) for data analysis and manipulation

We're flexible on background — if you’ve got core analytical skills and a track record of driving impact, we’d love to hear from you.
