Job Purpose

This role is based in Ethiopia and we require the Senior Project Manager to have high‑energy, a results‑driven leader accountable for the end‑to‑end delivery of customer solutions, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role plays a critical part in translating CR2’s strategic objectives into tangible customer outcomes, consistently exceeding customer expectations.

Acting as the primary interface between customers and internal delivery teams, the Senior Project Manager drives seamless collaboration, transparent communication, and proactive risk and dependency management. This role requires a strong sense of ownership, a relentless focus on delivery excellence, and the ability to motivate and align cross‑functional teams around shared goals, ensuring outstanding performance and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Own the full project lifecycle from initiation to closure.
  • Define clear project objectives, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Ensure timely delivery within budget and scope, adhering to quality standards.
  • Escalate roadblocks proactively to Account Management or Leadership.

Customer & Internal Communication

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all project-related communication.
  • Maintain transparency with stakeholders through regular updates.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that supports feedback and continuous improvement.

Change Request Management

  • Lead change request processes, ensuring minimal disruption and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and remove blockers to maintain workflow momentum.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks before escalation.
  • Implement risk response plans and resolve issues promptly.

Team Coordination & Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and accountability.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and drive a high-performance culture.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain fortnightly internal project status reports.
  • Provide structured customer reporting to manage expectations.
  • Ensure documentation is current, accessible, and compliant.

Critical Competencies

  • Project Management Expertise: Mastery of project management methodologies and tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA).
  • Leadership: Ability to inspire, guide, and hold cross-functional teams accountable.
  • Problem Solving & Risk Management: Proactive in identifying and resolving issues.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Skilled in negotiation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to align internal and external teams.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to align project execution with business strategy.

Qualifications & Experience

    Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

    Experience

    • Minimum 10 years of project management experience, including delivery of large‑scale Digital Banking and/or Payments programmes involving multiple stakeholders, vendors, and regulatory constraints
    • Proven track record managing complex, cross-functional projects.
    • Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
    • Experience in banking, payments, or software systems is a plus.

    Certifications

    • PMP or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable.


    Success Metrics

      • Project Delivery: Projects delivered on time, within scope and budget.
      • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Achieve a minimum satisfaction score from customer and internal feedback surveys.
      • Risk Management: Demonstrated reduction in project delays due to proactive risk mitigation.
      • Change Request Management: Full adherence to change request SLAs and process compliance.
      • Team Performance: High team engagement and delivery effectiveness, measured through retrospectives and performance reviews.
