We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join the Gas and LNG Asset team, within our Global Gas & LNG research practice. This is a global team which delivers industry-leading research and consulting on the LNG industry and analysis of the drivers for long term investment and contracting in this market.


The Gas & LNG research practice at Wood Mackenzie leverages unique, proprietary information and modelling to serve clients. We work with a range of clients including national and major energy companies, utilities, shipping, investment banks, and institutional investors. This is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact to both our business and our client’s businesses.


Main Responsibilities

As part of the team, you will deliver world-class Research, Data, and Insight. This includes LNG asset analysis and valuation, assessment of LNG costs and cost drivers, LNG contract and contract pricing trends, corporate strategy within the LNG space, LNG supply and demand fundamentals, LNG shipping trends and costs, LNG value chain emissions and decarbonisation, and the role of gas and gas/LNG assets in the energy transition.


Build and develop high-quality research and leverage your expertise and subject knowledge of the LNG market

Provide insights and valuations on LNG supply, shipping and regasification infrastructure

Work with the broader gas team (for global consistency) or other commodity teams (like power, coal, carbon).

Coach less-experienced team members, fostering an open, innovative, and dynamic team environment

Plan and deliver a research programme across data, reports and slide deliverables

Engage regularly with clients, including senior executives, to present our views, gather research and develop new business

Build and maintain contacts with key players in the industry; develop research and commercial relationships

Identify and collect new data and ensure that this is stored in the relevant WM databases and systems

Work with AI models and agents to improve research processes and develop advanced reasoning of trends within the LNG market

Create new written and data-connected research in natural gas trading, piped and LNG terminals infrastructure dynamics, and corporate themes.

Work with colleagues in Sales and Consulting teams to drive business opportunities


Qualifications

You have either worked within a data, analytics, or consulting business, or have been directly involved in a commercial gas-related role with an industry participant. You have industry knowledge and enthusiasm for analysing and understanding the gas and LNG market.


You are passionate about what you do, and the quality of your work makes you credible with clients. You like speaking with clients and presenting your views.


You enjoy the development and implementation of modelling and integrated scenario problem-solving.


You have an analytical and quantitative mind, an eye for detail and an ability to translate your understanding of the market into clear coherent messages for customers.


You have planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage your own workload and also co-operate across the team, broader gas business and wider Wood Mackenzie organisation.


You are proficient in data collaboration tools (such as Microsoft Excel) and handling large datasets. Knowledge of Power BI and Power Query will be considered a further advantage, as will understanding of how to develop prompts and agentic AI solutions.
