Role Purpose

Our global Subsurface Research Team delivers integrated research, data analysis and industry-leading thought leadership, across the geo-energy landscape, enabling customers to make quicker, more effective decisions. 

 

Reporting into our Subsurface Research Leadership, an experienced, highly motivated, innovative and performance oriented Senior Analyst is required to drive our Subsurface analytics agenda, including the use of AI, to provide our customers with advanced workflow solutions and insights that help them to make better informed investment decisions for the Energy Transition. 

Main Responsibilities 

  • Shape and lead the Subsurface Analytics agenda 

  • Collaborate across Wood Mackenzie on Synoptic initiatives 

  • Drive data and workflow analytics within Subsurface and, build data science driven analytics bench strength in Subsurface CoE 

  • Support and drive material Subsurface revenue growth through inception and delivery of AI-driven solutions 

  • Build and develop a broad and deep relationship network with our customers. Engage to understand their needs and wants to drive development of our offer 

  • Originate and author unique, thought provoking and highly impactful written content 

  • Supporting the Subsurface team vision and agenda and the development of our geo-energy products and services

About You 

You are passionate about the energy sector and the role it plays in delivering energy to the world. You have an analytical mindset, understand the power of subsurface data, and excited by the potential of AI across the Upstream value chain. 
 
You’re able to analyse and form clear, coherent conclusions from a variety of data and information. You find it easy communicating complex or technical information and delivering messages that are easily understood.

Qualifications and Capabilities 

  • BSc in a Geoscience or Reservoir Engineering discipline and a post-graduate data science degree. 

  • 5-10 years of relevant, professional experience in the energy sector, preferably within the Upstream Value Chain. 

  • Expert data analytical skills and demonstrably comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of data analytics technology development and application. 

  • Deep interest in, and knowledge of the global Energy Transition.  

  • Experience in external relationship building and management 

  • Demonstrable commercial acumen. 

  • A track record in demonstrating differentiated values and behaviours. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Demonstrable curiosity with a track record of impactful innovation. 

Expectations 

  • We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be required to be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment. Full-time remote working is not an option for this role. 

  • Due to the global nature of the team, a degree of flexible working will be required to accommodate different time zones.
