Business Overview
The Service Platform and Observability (SPO) team supports and manages production environments across BlackRock, including subsidiaries and clients of BlackRock Solutions. Our scope includes key ServiceNow modules, batch orchestrators, and data transfer services that are critical to business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain ServiceNow components including catalogues, workflows, forms, business rules, and UI elements.
- Collaborate with architects to enhance ServiceNow solution architecture and ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
- Provide guidance on platform design and development, including scripting, technical documentation writing, reporting, and automation.
- Support integration with third-party systems and ensure compliance with governance and change control processes.
- Coordinate development and construction activities within programs, maintaining plans and policies for the platform.
- Drive cost transparency in ServiceNow improvements and ensure successful business value tracking.
- Support, develop, configure, test, implement, and detail ServiceNow solutions, working closely with business, third-party development partners, and IT teams.
- Stay informed on ServiceNow updates and emerging technologies to continuously improve platform capabilities.
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business needs.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide application support for ServiceNow, performing daily operational tasks.
- Review ticket queues, address initial analysis, resolve incidents/issues, and conduct root cause analysis.
- Ensure compliance with process standards and ServiceNow guidelines.
- Run incident tickets and queries within agreed service levels, advancing when vital.
- Organise the ServiceNow system by assigning groups, adjusting CMS settings, optimising workflows, updating business rules, configuring UI actions, establishing UI policies, managing ACLs, maintaining the dictionary, and categorising catalogue items.
- Configure fields, forms, views, email notifications, roles, and access controls.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of ServiceNow integration with third-party systems/applications and participate in meetings to identify outstanding use cases.
- Exhibit solution composing, development task management, quality assurance, and release management.
- Work directly with internal and external clients to develop solutions, handle updates, and lead configuration changes/requests.
Skills / Experience Required
- Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with ServiceNow, particularly ITSM modules and experience with development lifecycle methodologies.
- Solid understanding of ITIL practices and development lifecycle methodologies.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as JavaScript, or HTML.
- ServiceNow System Administrator certification (or equivalent experience); Implementation
- Specialist and Application Developer certifications are a plus.
- Experience working in a client-focused Global IT services environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to solution development.
- Superb communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across global teams.
- ServiceNow Implementation Specialist and Application Developer qualifications are desired but not crucial.
- Good analytical skills structured and methodical approach, and highly organised.
- Ability to take initiative, identify work requirements, and coordinate, facilitate, or perform the work.
