Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and digital experiences for Lending, Insurance, and Wealth products while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies will be crucial in delivering high-quality software solutions. This will include ongoing solution design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of features. Experience in mobile development (iOS/Android or cross-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter) is not mandatory but would be highly advantageous and help you stand out.

Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities 

  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to team members on code quality.

  • Ensure software engineering best practices are met.

  • Actively engage in requirement analysis discussions and come up with technical solutions.

  • Design and develop new product features with minimum defects.

  • Deliver project sprint commitments on time.

  • Participate in Agile software development practices.

  • Create, review, and maintain documentation.

  • Conduct POCs to research and identify the optimal solution.

  • Utilises experience with Jira and Confluence.

  • Promptly respond to production incidents by troubleshooting and providing solutions to them.

  • Implement shift-left testing and automation practices to identify and address defects early in the development cycle.

  • Work independently to design APIs and components with support from Architects.

Outcomes/ Deliverables

  • Working collaboratively with the team and stakeholders, by incorporating feedback when appropriate.

  • Adaptable and flexible to changes in priorities and demands.

  • Designing, developing, testing and maintaining applications with mind of high-availability and performance.

  • Debugging, resolving and supporting technical problems that arise.

  • Producing relevant documentation throughout SDLC.

  • Working through with the project team from conception to delivery.   

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • At least 8 years of commercial experience with Full Stack development with a strong focus on Java.

  • Proficiency with latest LTS JDK, Spring Boot (or other microservice frameworks), Hibernate, and OpenAPI.

  • Understanding and experience with implementation of the test pyramid.

  • Proficiency in front-end technologies HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Redux, Webpack.

  • Micro Front End experience will be beneficial.

  • Experience in mobile development (iOS/Android or cross-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter) is desirable and would be highly advantageous.

  • Experience in DevOps such as CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), deployment automation.

  • Solid knowledge across networking, database and API.

  • Experience with observability tools such as Splunk & Dynatrace.

  • Ability to work independently to deliver solutions from basic requirements.

  • Capability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team. You’ll feel at ease contributing to team meetings.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • With a strong focus on high quality, you’ll be passionate about best practices and producing high-quality code.
