Department OverviewThe Senior Test Engineer will be part of the System Integration and Test team which is responsible for verification, validation and testing of new solutions and software releases prior to deployment in the field. The team is responsible for operation and management of the reference testing environment, testing third party supplied devices and applications and supporting the engineering teams to verify products and solutions. The Senior Test Engineer is required to work with a multi-discipline, multi-site programme team with responsibility for the UAT/OAT.
Job Description

This role requires you to come from a Mobile Telecommunications background.

This role requires you to be onsite out of our Rugby offices 5 days a week. Living a reasonable commutable distance is advisable.

This role requires security clearance, to be eligible for this you are required to be a resident of the UK for a minimum of 3 years.

This role will involve:-

  • Implementation of the test strategy; test planning including scheduling, resources, configuration and equipment to support the activities required to deliver testing within time, cost and quality.
  • Testing will need to be planned, coordinated and performed on the test environment.
  • Coordinating and conduct testing in the live environment at customer sites as part of the first office application testing.
  • Design and develop work packages and agree with the customer what is required. Conducts full evaluation and provides recommendations. 
  • Plan, execute and analyse results, provide recommendations and make decisions.
  • Able to explain technical details in depth and is able to capture issues and challenge understanding.
  • Has detailed and depth of technical knowledge within their specialist area. Is able to readily discuss and negotiate with suppliers and customers on a detailed technical level. Make technical decisions.
  • Is able to design and develop new work package processes and procedures and get approval from customers.


Basic Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Engineering Degree / ISTQB Foundation
  • Worked in a relevant field / business that overlaps with Motorola / Airwave Solutions.
  • Proven practical experience of engineering & customer testing in an telecommunications/IT Networking environment
  • Experience of testing mobile IP data and voice communications systems and fault diagnostics
  • Proven experience of building and establishing good working relationships with suppliers and customer to deliver solutions
  • Ability to make decisions and provide recommendations to senior management
  • Have experience of using Test Tools/Network Simulators
  • Test Automation Tools, API and GUI test Design and Execution

​Desirable Qualifications / Demonstrable Experience:

  • TETRA / Mobile Networks
  • VSAT / Microwave
  • Low Earth Orbit Satellite Communications
  • SIP/VoIP Call Performance Testing / Telecom Protocols (SIP, RTP)
  • Qualified Software programmer with programming experience using Python, LabVIEW, SQL, or Embedded C
  • CCNA/CCNP qualification
