ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Web/UX Design Engineer at WunderGraph, you bridge the gap between design and engineering. You combine creative problem-solving and technical execution to deliver elegant, scalable, and performant digital experiences. You thrive on crafting solutions that balance user needs, design quality, and engineering feasibility—bringing ideas from concept to production.
You are fluent in both design systems and front-end technologies, enabling you to not only design intuitive interfaces but also contribute directly to implementation and technical decisions. Your approach is iterative, collaborative, and pragmatic, with a clear focus on delivering impact for users and the business. With your curiosity and craftsmanship, you inspire teammates while raising the standard of what great product experiences can be.
TEAM INTEGRATION
Reports to CTO, is part of the Engineering team
Aligns closely with the CEO (Product) and CCO (customer experience and business impact)
Collaborates cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, product, and customer success
Acts as a design mentor and thought partner within the team
ROLE OBJECTIVES

Lead the end-to-end design-engineering process for web and product experiences, from discovery to delivery.
Drive a consistent, scalable, and technically feasible design system across product and marketing.
Translate customer needs and business goals into user-centric solutions that can be built and maintained at scale.
Champion accessibility, usability, performance, and responsive design best practices.
Mentor teammates on design and front-end best practices.
Strengthen WunderGraph’s product and brand identity through thoughtful, technically sound design execution.
Influence product strategy by connecting design decisions with engineering and business outcomes.
ROLE TASKS
Product & Design Engineering
Design and prototype user flows, interfaces, and interactions with scalability in mind.
Contribute to implementation by working closely with engineers (and coding where appropriate).
Define and evolve our design system and component library, ensuring technical maintainability.
Conduct and oversee user research, usability testing, and competitor analysis.
Introduce advanced prototyping, interaction design, and performance-focused practices.
Web & Brand Experience
Own the design and technical evolution of WunderGraph’s web presence.
Deliver assets that blend design and code: landing pages, visuals, campaign graphics, and interactive components.
Shape and maintain a cohesive style guide, balancing design innovation with engineering consistency.
Support brand storytelling with technically feasible motion graphics and interactive elements.
Set best practices for design-to-engineering workflows, documentation, and handoff.
Mentor and support teammates in both design and front-end implementation.
Act as a design/engineering advocate across the organization.
Represent the team in cross-functional workshops and external thought leadership.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Senior-level experience in Design Engineering, Product, or UX/UI Design with a strong portfolio of projects.
Proficiency in Figma, prototyping tools, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Working knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript a plus).
Strong background in UX research, accessibility, responsive design, and performance optimization.
Experience contributing to or leading design systems and component libraries.
Ability to bridge design and engineering with hands-on contributions.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English.
Self-starter, capable of leading initiatives independently.
Comfortable working 100% remotely in a distributed team.
Willingness to travel occasionally for team retreats and workshops.

Note: This is a full-time, fully remote position. We are looking for someone who is available to work during European (CET) business hours.

Our process also includes reference and background checks. We aim to respond or provide feedback in 2 or 3 days between each stage of the process. We're usually hiring through Deel as our Employer of Record, except for Germany or Florida where we're hiring directly.
