Department: Marketing

Location: Home based, UK

Reports to: Editor-in-Chief

Hours: 37.5  per week

Salary: (Depending on experience)

Role Overview

You'll design most of what Cambridge Spark publishes on social, with LinkedIn as the main channel. That covers the company page and the profiles of our senior people. It's a hands-on making job, and you'll use AI tools every day to get more done and try things a small team couldn't otherwise manage. You'll also be the person who knows which formats are working on LinkedIn right now and why.

It suits someone early in their design career who's ready for a big step up. As the team grows there's plenty of room to grow with it.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design LinkedIn content, including single-image posts, infographics, carousels, motion graphics and event promotion
  • Make graphics for our newsletter, blog and resources section, podcast artwork and assets for our two shows (Data and AI Mastery and Inside the Algorithm), plus one-off pieces for campaigns
  • Use generative image and video tools to produce original visuals, and know when a piece needs proper design work instead of a generated image
  • Help build a consistent visual language for Cambridge Spark as the brand develops
  • Turn briefs from editorial, marketing and sales into finished work, and push back when a brief isn't clear
  • Run your own pipeline of requests, deadlines and approvals, and help keep the content calendar up to date
  • Track how posts perform and use what you find to shape the next round

Candidate Specification:

Essential:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in graphic design
  • A portfolio that shows social-first design work
  • Strong working knowledge of Figma and Canva, and experience building in Framer
  • Regular, hands-on use of generative AI tools including Midjourney and Higgsfield, along with the models available inside it such as Seedance, Kling and Nano Banana
  • A clear understanding of what earns reach and engagement on LinkedIn and social media
  • Strong organisation, and the ability to manage several projects and stakeholders at once without things slipping

Desirable:

  • Motion design or video editing experience
  • Evidence of growing an audience for your own brand or someone else's (we'd like to see the numbers)
  • Experience designing for a B2B audience
  • Confidence writing short copy for posts and graphics
  • An interest in AI and how it's changing work

Company Benefits:

  • Pension with 4% matched contributions, opportunity to opt into salary sacrifice scheme
  • 25 days holiday + Flexi bank holidays + 1 day off on your birthday
  • A day for volunteering
  • Enhanced Maternity and Paternity Leave
  • Health & Wellbeing allowance of up to £30 per month
  • Annual Summer and Xmas events
  • Company socials including everything from Cambridge College formals, pub nights to team building events
  • CPD Allowance alongside quarterly reflections to ring fence time for development and growth
  • Private medical insurance and cash plan
  • Holiday buy back scheme (up to 10 days p/a)
  • Employee Assistance Programme with a dedicated company counsellor
