Job DescriptionAs a Software Development Engineer II at Entain's In-House Studios, you will take on a more advanced role in developing innovative gaming products, contributing technical expertise to deliver exceptional player experiences. This mid-level position is designed for developers with a strong foundation in software engineering who are ready to take on more responsibility, including mentoring junior developers and collaborating across teams to enhance development processes. Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain high-quality JavaScript code to implement advanced features, ensuring smooth integration of graphics, audio, and gameplay elements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop products that meet design specifications and exceed user expectations
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, helping them build skills and grow professionally
- Work closely with QA and deployment teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues, ensuring products meet quality and compliance standards
- Take ownership of features and deliverables, ensuring timely completion while maintaining high levels of quality and performance
- Ensure responsiveness and compatibility across multiple devices and browsers, with a focus on delivering seamless user experiences
- Stay ahead of industry trends, identifying opportunities to introduce new tools, technologies, and best practices to improve workflows
- Actively contribute to technical discussions and help shape the future of development processes and team standards
- Proficient understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with proven experience delivering high-quality software solutions
- Deep knowledge of the latest JavaScript standards and modern front-end development practices
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and deliver effective solutions
- Excellent communication skills, with experience collaborating across teams and providing constructive feedback
- Experience with modern IDEs (e.g., Visual Studio, WebStorm, IntelliJ)
- Proficient in source control software (e.g., Git, Perforce, SVN)
- Advanced working knowledge of JavaScript tooling (e.g., Webpack, Gulp.js, Babel, Yarn)
- Familiarity with optimisation techniques to enhance performance and user experience
- Proven ability to meet deadlines while balancing competing priorities
- Experience mentoring junior developers and providing technical support to the wider team
- Maintain and improve documentation to ensure it accurately reflects technical processes and supports team knowledge sharing
- Take an active role in code reviews, providing thoughtful and detailed feedback to ensure code quality and promote best practices
