We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Asset & Wealth Management – Performance & Attribution team, you'll help design and deliver the market-leading portfolio analytics platform that our investment teams rely on to measure performance and explain returns. You'll write core Java services on AWS, and you'll join at a genuinely interesting moment: we're expanding our platform to support onboarding across EMEA and APAC, and we're actively building out AI and automation capabilities that are changing how our engineers work day to day. If you want to work on hard problems in a scaling, cloud-native environment — and shape where the platform goes next — this is a great seat.
Job responsibilities
- Tackle complex technical problems and think beyond conventional approaches to build scalable, resilient solutions — from service design through debugging and production stability
- Build and improve automation and AI-based tooling that raises engineering leverage across the team, and contribute reusable patterns back to the group
- Leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding-assist tools (code generation/refactoring, unit-test creation, documentation) to improve quality, speed, and productivity across complex deliverables — validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards
- Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
- Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Develop, debug, and maintain production services in a large enterprise environment using modern programming languages and database querying languages
- Collaborate across engineering and product teams to deliver platform capabilities that support global investment operations at scale
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and proficient applied experience
- Strong hands-on proficiency in Java — designing, developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining production services in a large enterprise environment
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience building on AWS cloud services (compute, storage, messaging, and access management)
- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure
- Interest or experience in AI/agentic tooling or developer-automation platforms
- Exposure to investment or portfolio analytics, performance measurement, or fixed income domains
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
