Department OverviewThe Evidence and Devices Engineering team is responsible for Motorola Solutions’ body cameras, vehicle cameras and evidence management software leveraged in public safety and enterprise applications worldwide.
We are a thriving and growing company in search of a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our evidence management team at our Edinburgh, Scotland site. This is a full-time role where you will play a crucial part in the development and growth of our software engineering projects. We are seeking a talented and proactive individual who can contribute to our team’s success and foster a positive culture within the company.
Job Description

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing Java-based applications.

  • Analyzing user requirements to inform application design.

  • Debugging and resolving technical problems that arise.

  • Ensuring continuous professional self-development.

Basic Requirements

Please note this is a hybrid role based out of the Edinburgh Office.


Basic Requirements

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience.

  • At least 2+ years of experience in building large-scale Java software applications.

  • Substantial understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.

  • Knowledge of testing and debugging software issues.

  • Good understanding of relational databases, ORM Technologies, and SQL.

  • Collaborates with co-workers and has strong communication, relationship-building, and cooperation skills.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with microservices architecture/distributed computing (Docker, Podman).

  • Knowledge of frontend languages (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and their libraries.

  • Previous working experience in an Agile environment (Scrum).

  • Familiarity with Linux-based environments.
