This is the right opportunity for a person with 3–5 years in a software engineering or developer experience (DevEx) role, experience in open-source developer tooling, strong background in API design and build as well as a strong background in cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code workflows.

Requirements

What you will be working on/responsible for

    • Keep tools and integrations (e.g., CLI modules, Terraform, AWS CLI, AWS CDK, SAM CLI) up-to-date with the latest frameworks and dependencies.
    • Address bugs, compatibility issues, and technical debt across multiple repositories.
    • Maintain operational stability through automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and setting up analytics, monitoring, and alerting.
    • Deliver seamless integration experiences with IDEs (e.g., VS Code) and CI systems (e.g., CircleCI).
    • Improve and expand technical documentation for tool usage, integration processes, and troubleshooting.
    • Build new integrations with emerging tools and frameworks to support modern cloud development workflows.
    • Collaborate with other open-source projects and organizations to extend LocalStack’s reach.
    • Implement telemetry and analytics to measure usage and performance of integrations.
    • Drive adoption of LocalStack through improved tooling and integrations.
    • Incorporate community feedback into the product roadmap.
    • Simplify contribution processes by enhancing onboarding materials and automating repetitive contributor workflows.

Experience we expect you to bring to the role

  • 4+ years of professional experience in software engineering roles, ideally in fast-paced or product-focused environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with IaC tools such as AWS CDK, Terraform, or Pulumi.
  • Deep experience with CI/CD systems such as GitLab, GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild, CircleCI, Bitbucket, or Jenkins.
  • Proficiency with container technologies like Docker or Podman, and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with infrastructure/platform-level services on at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), ideally in a DevOps, platform engineering, or SRE capacity.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages, particularly Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Go.
  • Experience collaborating with external users or customers—gathering feedback, capturing requirements, or providing technical support—is a strong plus.
