Covetrus is looking for a talented software engineer to join our UK product development team.

Who we are
Covetrus is a global animal-health technology and services company. We have decades of experience supporting the whole of the veterinary industry covering everything from product wholesale to practice management solutions (PMS). The UK team is responsible for the development of a number of projects that support and build on our global PMS including cloud-based tools and APIs as well as mobile products.

As a global business, Covetrus is pushing hard to develop the software side of our work and we need you to help us achieve our technology goals.

What we need
To achieve Covetrus’ goal of delivering new technology to our customers we need a passionate engineer with a proven ability to deliver quality software as part of an agile, multi-disciplinary team. You should be comfortable taking defined work tasks from the team leads and producing work autonomously. In this post-pandemic world, Covetrus has adopted a hybrid-remote working environment and, as such, touch-points with your team have changed and continue to evolve. You should be confident enough to work with that level of “at-home” independence while knowing your limits and when to engage with the right people.

About You
  • You should be a tenacious problem solver.
  • You love working within a strong team and communicate well to the team’s output.
  • You must have a strong degree in Computer Science or a relevant level of experience to show your capabilities.
  • You should be comfortable working in Cloud Native environments.
  • You should be experienced with C# and have commercial development experience in the .NET tech stack.
  • You should have a good understanding of REST and how to implement and consume an API.
  • You should have a variety of experience working with typical engineering pipeline tools including version control, code-quality and testing tools.
  • You should have some experience with modern databases and familiarity with SQL.
Ideally you could also have
  • Experience implementing API authentication systems such as OAuth2.
  • Experience in Front-End UI development, ideally with Angular.
  • Experience working with public cloud infrastructure, ideally Azure.
  • Experience with Microservice design patterns.
  • Good knowledge of git and modern source control.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with CI pipeline tools such as Azure Pipelines and automated release processes.

What you can expect from us
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Support of a large corporate company with a global presence.
  • Flexible working environment.
  • An open and welcoming culture with a great appetite for new technology and ideas.
