The Team:
Join the Orchestration Engine team at Celonis in our Madrid office. This high-impact team operates like a startup within the company, building a full SaaS solution that enables global enterprises to automate workflows using low-code/no-code tooling. You will report to the Engineering Manager for Orchestration Engine.
The Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Golang to help us shape the next generation of the Celonis Orchestration Engine. In this role, you’ll design and build scalable Go microservices that empower users to automate complex business processes. You’ll work closely with Product, Design, and Frontend Engineering to deliver features that make automation intuitive and powerful. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with the autonomy to make architectural decisions, mentor others, and have a direct impact on the product’s evolution.
The work you’ll do:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable microservices using Go
- Work closely with product managers and cross-functional engineering teams to implement new features and evolve the product based on customer needs
- Contribute to architectural decisions that improve reliability, performance, and maintainability
- Integrate with third-party APIs and cloud services using standards such as REST, GraphQL, or gRPC
- Implement and extend support for process modeling standards such as BPMN
- Contribute to DevOps practices and automation pipelines where applicable
- Occasionally support customer-facing engineers to understand requirements and guide technical feasibility
The qualifications you need:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience on Backend Technologies
- 2+ years experience Go or Java
- Deep understanding of software design principles: MVC, DDD, SOLID, etc.
- Experience working on microservices-based architectures and distributed systems
- Familiarity with low-code/no-code platforms or workflow automation tools
- Knowledge of API protocols (REST, gRPC) and auth standards (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS)
- Exposure to BPMN or process modeling (nice to have)
- Comfortable working in a DevOps environment with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD (nice to have)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a distributed setup
