Global Procurement & Sustainability activities are critical to the delivery of Diageo’s strategic ambitions for long-term, demonstrated growth and its Spirit of Progress: Society 2030 ambition.- The Global Procurement & Sustainability finance function reports into the President, Global Supply Chain & Procurement & Chief Sustainability Officer through the Global Supply Chain & Procurement Finance Director.
- The function is responsible for providing financial leadership and business partnering in respect of the Group’s ~£5bn COGS and ~3bn A&P and OH spend pools as well as the company’s strategic sustainability goals, with a focus on Carbon and Water.
- The function directly supports the Global Procurement function, led by Diageo’s Chief Procurement Officer (CPO), and the Group’s Sustainability function, led by the Supply Sustainability Director. However, it often partners with other key functions and Regions across Diageo including, but not limited to, Group Strategic Finance & Performance Function, Group Investor Relations, Group Corporate Relations and Global marketing.
- The function is, therefore, at the forefront of empowering leaders with information, advice and support to facilitate effective decision-making across our Supply Chain.
- Develop procurement and CRES strategies and related financial plans
- Review and negotiate supplier contracts
- Support efficiency conceptualization and related financial implications
- Deliver broader procurement-led projects or initiatives, and
- Analyse, track and report overall procurement performance – cost, cash and carbon
- Play an integral role in various financial processes including the 3-Year financial planning process, Annual Operating Plans and monthly reporting exercises.
- Work closely with FP&A teams to bring clarity to how Procurement actions affect P&L and Cash delivery
- Commercial competence and judgment; an understanding of both the business and external environment to draw from, ability to challenge, influence strategies and guide decisions
- Strong communication and influencing skills, verbal and written; able to distil and communicate complex information clearly
- Strong personal impact – build value relationships quickly across all levels within the organisation in a matrix environment, challenging and holding the teams to account, and being credible in front of senior partners and key strategic suppliers.
- The ability to work at pace with ambiguity and change, develop efficient ways of working and be agile in responding to change
- Graduate or equivalent qualification and member of professional body - Accounting or finance qualification desirable (ACA/ICAS/CIMA/MBA)
- Have at least 5+ years of relevant / related finance experience – procurement or supply finance experience desirable (especially from within FMCG).
- Demonstrated performance in problem solving and project management.
- Strong analytical / financial / discernment for business, including an understanding of organisational financial goals and value drivers. Notably, capable of understanding and explaining concepts of volume, inflation, efficiency, and spend.
- High level of experience in data analysis, financial planning, modelling (excel) and reporting i.e. turning complex data into strategic insights. Significant experience with core financial systems (SAP, BFC, Salesforce, Qlik) including their metrics and data structures is desirable.
