Product intro:
We believe developers should have full visibility into the experiences end users have with their applications.  So, we build developer visibility tools that provide development teams with all the insights they need into their end users’ experiences with an app.  This ensures that developers can find and fix issues as swiftly as possible and provide first class experiences to their customers. 

SmartBear’s BugSnag product is a market leading error and performance monitoring solution which helps development teams understand the general health of their applications through the eyes of users. It identifies issues such as application crashes and errors and then routes the issues (with context) to the developers to triage and fix.

About the role:
As a Technical Product Manager you will be responsible for translating customer needs into technical requirements.  You will have the opportunity to shape the direction of the product through turning our product vision and strategy into realized product capabilities. You will be working with UX, Engineering, and Architecture team members on a daily basis to ensure that product capabilities meet the needs of our developer user base.

  • Understand users and their job to be done: You will conduct in-depth market research and lean experiments to understand your customers, the problems they are trying to solve, and the outcomes they expect.
  • Maintain and communicate product vision and strategy: You will prioritize customer needs within the defined product strategy by working closely with key stakeholders in product management, marketing, and sales.
  • Influence Product roadmap: You will translate customer needs into product capabilities through backlog grooming, rigorous prioritization, and collaboration with leaders in engineering and UX.
  • Define well-articulated user stories: You will break down complex features and capabilities into bite-sized deliverables with well written user stories, acceptance criteria and occasional mock-ups that the engineering team can work with.
  • Bring product to market: You will work closely with Product Marketing Managers and Sales Leaders to articulate feature value and translate it into market-worthy stories.
  • Measure successes and failures: You will define success criteria and measure everything you do - metrics are key!
  • Keep a close eye on business goals: You will work with Product leadership to ensure that we hit key revenue and profit goals on a quarterly basis.

 We are looking for you if you have:

  • Development experience with 1-3 yrs focused on mobile or web applications and platforms
  • Outstanding organizational abilities as well as written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to think logically, critically, and constructively about complex problems and communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • A laser-like focus on creating value for customers and removing friction for engineering teams
  • Market experience within the Observability / APM space is a big plus.
