Role Overview:

Reporting to the Lead Technical Product Owner, the successful candidate will be the dedicated TPO for our Mobile App squad, taking full ownership of the mobile product lifecycle. Working closely with cross-functional teams including development, QA, design, and business stakeholders, you will ensure the timely delivery of mobile features and enhancements that meet the high standards expected in the banking and fintech industry.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Convert business requirements into well-defined technical user stories tailored to mobile platforms
  • Proactively identify and document mobile-specific improvements, gaps, and technical debt, balancing feature delivery with platform health
  • Own and drive the mobile app product backlog, including grooming, prioritisation, and planning based on business value, technical dependencies, and resource availability
  • Facilitate and participate in all agile ceremonies for the mobile squad
  • Liaise with other squads and business units to ensure roadmap alignment and coordinated releases, providing regular sync updates and demos on mobile initiatives
  • Manage production support for the mobile app, including triaging issues, coordinating hotfixes, and communicating with stakeholders
  • Coordinate test planning and automation with QA to ensure quality releases
  • Handle ad-hoc requests including queries, data extracts and analysis
  • Contribute to effort estimations and capacity planning for the mobile squad

Required knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Degree or Diploma in IT or a related field
  • Solid understanding of the SDLC within an Agile framework
  • Previous experience as a Product Owner, Technical BA, or similar role within a software development team
  • Familiarity with mobile app development lifecycle, including an understanding of iOS and Android platform considerations, app store release processes, and mobile-specific constraints
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to challenge requirements
  • Competence in analysing logs and using SQL for data queries and troubleshooting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Leadership, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Assertive, dependable, and self-motivated with the ability to work independently

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience in the Banking or FinTech industry
  • Knowledge of mobile analytics tools, crash reporting, and app performance monitoring
  • Familiarity with payment systems and banking regulations (e.g. PSD2, PCI-DSS, GDPR etc.)
  • Experience coordinating with third-party mobile SDKs or vendors
  • Understanding of UI/UX principles for mobile applications
  • Competence in SQL for data queries and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with industry standard technologies such as REST APIs, Web Sockets, and JSON data structures
  • Experience with issue-tracking and documentation tools (e.g. Atlassian suite)
