Description

What we are looking for:

We are seeking an innovative and experienced UX Design Director to join our talented and passionate team working on our unannounced project. This is a unique opportunity to work on an exciting and upcoming project, shaping the user experience for an ambitious new title. As a UX Design Director, you will contribute to creating immersive and engaging experiences that resonate with our global player community.

Requirements

What we will do together:

  • Champion and be accountable for the quality of UX Design within the studio, working with an existing team and studio management to clarify what good looks like within the discipline
  • Develop, evolve and lead the vision for UX Design within a cross-functional development environment across the entire game, ensuring that your team meets players’ moment-to-moment UX needs with the same level of excellence as platform-level metagame features such as monetization, social systems, and long-term engagement mechanisms (e.g., challenges and passes).
  • Lead through influence and collaborate across all development Disciplines and levels, ensuring that developers know exactly how and where UX does its work, the value it brings, and how it is specifically solving problems the players will face
  • Drive innovative UX solutions that align with both core design and product requirements while enhancing the player experience.
  • Drive and deliver a vision for scalable UX frameworks that support multiple platforms in the same ecosystem (PC, Console, Mobile.)
  • Present data-informed design decisions and solutions to team members, backed by clear rationale. Help your team to validate their designs to know when the work is truly done.
  • Benchmark competing games and apply key insights to improve UI/UX design.
  • Create and iterate on prototypes for new features and user flows, refining them based on feedback.
  • Build game progression systems, user flows, and journey maps, communicating design rationale effectively.

What you will bring:

  • 8+ years working on live service games’ UX design.
  • Experience driving UX vision while building and managing a team of UX designers toward excellence, sharing accountability for both the development of software and the development of the people whom you lead.
  • Priority for our players when making design decisions considering their diversity, limitations to their cognitive and physical abilities, etc.
  • Data-informed designs.
  • Proficient in user experience design tools (e.g. Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe XD, etc)
  • Create clear and informative documentation.
  • Have a strong sense for when the game’s graphic design supports or undermines the usability needs of a feature.
  • Experienced with developing UX/UI on AAA games.
  • Mobile game and Unreal Engine knowledge a plus
  • Comfortable with prototyping in game engines, using editor tools/scripts.
  • This role reports directly to the Game Director.

From traditional pubs and centuries-old universities to sleek shopping malls and glass-paneled office buildings, Edinburgh's architecture reflects its unique blend of history and modernity. But the fusion of past and future isn't just visible in its buildings; it's also shaping the city's economy. Named the United Kingdom's leading technology ecosystem outside of London, Edinburgh plays host to major global companies like Apple and Adobe, as well as a growing number of innovative startups in fields like cybersecurity, finance and healthcare.
