Role Overview
The Vice President, Merchant & Co brand is a senior commercial leadership role accountable for owning merchant and co brand strategy, performance, and growth across a portfolio of Global and Regional clients in Asia Pacific.
This role combines direct client and portfolio ownership with regional leadership and capability scaling, operating at the intersection of global account strategy, regional execution, and P&L accountability. The VP serves as the senior Mastercard relationship sponsor for priority merchant and co brand partners, while leading teams and Centres of Excellence to defend, optimize, and generate new revenue opportunities aligned to Mastercard's priorities with the markets across Core, New Flows, and Services.
The role requires a proven leader who can operate strategically and commercially in a fast paced, matrixed environment, balancing executive engagement with hands on deal leadership and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Global & Regional Client Leadership• Act as senior Mastercard relationship sponsor for designated Global and Regional merchant and co brand clients.• Own executive level engagement across C suite stakeholders, aligning global account strategy with regional growth priorities.• Ensure one Mastercard voice through close partnership with Global Account Management, Product, Services, and Regional Market teams.
Strategic Account & Portfolio Management• Own and execute account strategies across the portfolio to retain, grow, and deepen partnerships through disciplined account planning, opportunity tracking, and relationship management.• Leverage market insights, competitive analysis, and performance data to create data driven strategies addressing client needs and business goals.• Provide regional oversight, prioritization, and governance across markets to drive consistency, scale, and impact.
Merchant & Co brand Portfolio Growth• Deliver long term, profitable co brand and merchant growth for selected accounts through acquisition acceleration, portfolio optimization, and market expansion.• Own and oversee the regional opportunity pipeline, spanning new co brand programs, merchant expansion, flows, and incremental Services revenue.• Identify white space opportunities across the portfolio and translate them into executable growth initiatives.
Business Development & Deal Leadership• Support existing Global and Regional accounts and AP markets through co-brand centre of excellence with complex, high value deals, including executive pitches, RFP responses, negotiations, and contract execution.• Collaborate cross functionally to design and deliver tailored, customer first solutions addressing partner pain points and growth objectives.• Ensure strong commercial discipline, value articulation, and deal quality across all engagements.
Strategic Transformation & Innovation• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies across payments, retail, and digital commerce.• Proactively assess the applicability of new trends and Mastercard offerings, tailoring strategies to customer specific use cases and market opportunities.• Champion innovation and transformation across merchant and co brand models, positioning Mastercard as a strategic growth partner.
Financial & People Leadership• Hold P&L accountability for the identified regional merchant and co brand portfolio, delivering against revenue, growth, and profitability targets.• Oversee business cases, budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting for existing and new partnerships.• Lead, develop, and inspire a high performing regional team, building leadership depth, succession, and a strong performance culture.
