Summary

The Visualisation & Automation role is responsible for delivering enterprise-level analytical reporting across the M&S Financial Services domain. You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of management information and performance reporting — from building automated data pipelines to developing scalable, insight-led dashboards — enabling near real-time performance tracking and confident, data-driven decision-making.

This role plays a key part in providing a single, trusted view of customer and commercial performance, supporting both Financial Services and the wider M&S business.

This is a hands-on technical role, requiring strong experience in Power BI (including DAX and Power Query) and in building automated data pipelines using SQL and PySpark.

What you'll do

  • Design and deliver a scalable Power BI reporting suite, providing clear, actionable dashboards for stakeholders from operational teams to senior leadership

  • Build and maintain automated data pipelines using SQL and PySpark, ensuring efficient processing of large-scale customer and transactional data

  • Ensure reliable data integration and robust modelling across Credit, Payments, General Insurance, and Travel Money, aligned to M&S standards

  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective analytical and reporting solutions

  • Uphold strong data governance, quality, and control standards to ensure trusted, high-performing reporting for decision-making

Who you are

  • Highly numerate and data literate, with a strong analytical mindset

  • Advanced Power BI skills, including building complex dashboards using DAX and Power Query

  • Proven experience designing and managing automated data pipelines using SQL and PySpark

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large, high-volume datasets and optimise for near real-time performance

  • Solid understanding of data modelling, analytical best practices, and scalable reporting architectures

What’s in it for you?

Working at M&S means being part of something bigger - helping to deliver quality, value and service to millions of customers every day. We’re inclusive, fast-moving and always evolving, with a strong sense of purpose and a focus on doing the right thing.

Here are just a few of the benefits that make working here even more rewarding:

  • 20% colleague discount on all M&S products and many third-party brands for you and someone in your household, available once you’ve completed your probation

  • Competitive holiday allowance with the option to buy more

  • Discretionary bonus schemes linked to your performance and ours

  • Strong pension and life assurance to help plan for the future

  • Tailored induction and training to support your development from day one

  • Exclusive perks and savings through our M&S Choices portal

  • Market-leading family policies, including parental, adoption and neonatal leave

  • 24/7 wellbeing support, including virtual GP access and mental health services

  • One paid volunteer day a year to support a cause that matters to you
