Toast is looking for an engineer to join our Digital Order Management team. This team is responsible for making sure that delivery orders flow smoothly from kitchen to customer, by providing accurate delivery time information to ensure a great experience and enabling restaurants to manage capacity strategies to maximize efficiency.

About this roll* (Responsibilities)
- Work collaboratively with PM, QA and other engineers building services using modern technologies
- Contribute & gain experience at every stage – solution design, estimation, coding, code review, testing, debugging, integrating, documenting, and maintaining
- Champion best practices – quality integration, continuous delivery, automated testing, security reviews, end-to-end testing, performance testing
- Ensure that all work is delivered with quality and is monitored and supported in production
Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)
- 2+ years of professional experience with Java, Kotlin or another object-oriented language
- Capacity to tackle complex and ambiguous problems, communicate clearly with others to solve the problem, and share knowledge to help the whole team succeed
- Enjoys building well-engineered, reliable, and scalable services
- Driven by real-world customer impact
- Experience working in a team with Agile/Scrum methodology focused on delivering reliable high-quality software
Special Sauce* (Nice to Haves)
- Exposure to distributed systems
- Experience with AWS technologies like DynamoDB and ECS and message queues such as Apache Kafka / Pulsar.
