If you’re ready to join a fast-growing, high-impact company that’s reimagining resource management, then let’s talk.

About the role

As a Data Engineer, you will be the bridge between technical design and client reality for data integration projects. You will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of data pipelines, from the initial specification with our Project Managers and Software Implementation Consultants, the design and build, to long-term performance monitoring.  You will be architecting reliable data solutions for a growing global client base.

This is a highly collaborative role where you will have the opportunity to work directly with clients on requirements gathering and the implementation of new integrations.  As the demand for integration work increases, you will be heavily involved in setting the standards for our integrations going forward.

What you’ll do

  • Work with our software implementation consultants (SICs) to define and verify specification documents for ETL process
  • Liaise directly with customer IT teams to test and verify data source endpoints (e.g., Workday, Salesforce, Snowflake) against our specifications.
  • Implement, test, and deploy Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines using Azure Repos and Pipelines (CI/CD) across customer environments.
  • Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to ensure all data solutions are observable, performant, and meet our reliability standards.
  • Work closely with core Engineering teams to ensure data flows seamlessly and maintains integrity across the entire product ecosystem.
  • Act as a technical consultant to clients and internal teams, making architectural recommendations rather than simply executing tasks.
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to existing ADF processes to ensure they remain maintainable as our customer base scales.
  • Use Azure DevOps and Git repositories for version control and collaboration and have comfort with version control, CI/CD practices, etc.
  • Plan, design, manage, execute and report tests, using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Understand and document risks associated with deployment

About you

  • You must have a few years of experience in Azure Data Factory and be comfortable building transparent, easy-to-support pipelines.
  • You have experience building and maintaining data integrations with a variety of external systems
  • You have a good understanding of the ETL process
  • You are comfortable being in a client-facing role
  • You are confident working with complex referential data
  • You have knowledge of Rest APIs, SQL databases and other data sources
  • You are a team player, with experience collaborating with other departments
  • You demonstrate good attention to detail and enjoy breaking complex problems down into simple steps.
  • You care about the quality of your output - not just whether the pipeline runs, but whether it’s maintainable, observable, and trustworthy.
  • You’re comfortable working with ambiguity and systems that weren’t built the way you’d have built them.
  • You communicate clearly with both engineers and non-engineers – internally and externally
  • You take ownership - when something breaks, you fix it; when something could be better, you say so.

Bonus points if you have

  • Previous experience directly leading calls with clients
  • Experience in other Azure data technologies such as Azure Databricks
  • Integrated with a variety of downstream data sources, including but not limited to:
  • Cloud services
  • Custom REST APIs
  • Database (on-prem)

What you’ll get

  • Salary £38,000 - £45,000 (dependent on experience)
  • At least £1,000 per year to spend on professional and personal development
  • 33 days' holiday per year (including bank holidays), increasing by 1 day each year to a maximum of 40 days
  • Paid four-week sabbatical in your fifth anniversary year on top of your holiday entitlement
  • Enhanced family leave policies
  • Private health insurance, including dental and vision benefits
  • Income protection and death in service cover
  • Matched 5% auto-enrolment workplace pension scheme
  • Access to wellbeing offerings, such as our Employee Assistance Programme and a dedicated counselling service
  • Volunteering time – up to 20 hours a year to participate in volunteer work
  • Regular All Hands meeting for inspiration and over-communication
  • Time out of the working week for team socials each month, with a mix of in-person and virtual options: past events include hiking, family BBQs, board games and at-home cocktail classes!
  • Genuinely nice, smart people to work with, who are excited about growing our company

Working Details

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week). We typically work from 09:00 - 17:30 from Monday to Friday, though we can be flexible around this, just let us know.

We’re ideally looking for someone in/around Edinburgh, though we’re open to the possibility of this being a remote role (as long as you're in the UK). We're making the most of hybrid working, so you won't need to come into the office everyday (unless you want to!).

We don't mandate required office time, but we find that most of the team enjoy working from home 2-3 days a week, and come into our office to connect with each other, make use of space, and for meetings.

Join the team!

Equality of opportunity is more than just a responsibility: we believe it’s a huge advantage to welcome a variety of experiences and perspectives into the team. Diversity is a great asset and, as such, we strongly encourage applications from any background.

This is your opportunity to really influence how we get things done and to help shape how the team functions and evolves in the future.  We're doing well, but there's lots more to do in order to maintain the high bar and pace that we've set.

Everyone here is growing personally as the company grows, so if that sounds like something you’d like to be part of, we’d love to see your application. The deadline for applications is Friday 15th May at 12pm. Initial phone calls and interviews will be conducted around this date, so it won't be too long before you hear from us.

Please note the successful candidate for this role will be subject to background checks and will have an opportunity to declare anything to us beforehand.
