Job Overview

We are currently seeking a talented Lead Level Artist to join our dynamic team in creating captivating  worlds for our upcoming game. This position offers the opportunity to showcase your creativity and expertise in designing visually stunning and detailed  dioramas of vibrant landscapes to industrial areas. Some time will also be spent working with the concept team and art directors to push the visual target and guide the art team in level art production.If you are passionate about crafting beautiful scenes and have the passion to dive into creating content and possess the  understanding of lighting, materials, proportion, and set dressing standards, then this is the perfect opportunity for you to collaborate with a talented team and make a significant impact on the overall gaming experience.

What will you do?

  • Take on the high level art direction of the project and concept or work closely with the concept team to realise new levels.

  • Create and adapt existing assets to help in the conceptual stage of the level conception.

  • Create materials to push the high level concepts of level prototypes.

  • Work with a variety of disciplines including designers, 3d artists and lighting disciplines.

  • Participate in the development of new tools and technologies.

  • Engage in level population and production.

  • Engage in performance optimization and bug fixes.

What are we looking for?

  • Several years of experience in the game industry as a Level Artist.
  • Knowledge of the basics of composition, aerial perspective, theory of light, colour science.

  • Good modelling and texturing skills.

  • Strong knowledge of: Maya, ZBrush, Photoshop, Substance Painter (or other similar programs).

  • Basic knowledge of gameplay and level design.

  • Ability to communicate productively, perceive feedback constructively, ability and desire to work in a team.

  • Versatile gaming experience, interest in computer games.

  • Initiative, resourcefulness.

  • Understanding of game level production processes.

  • Understanding of level optimization and asset production methodology.

  • Understanding of level lighting.

What additional skills will help you stand out?

  • Level conception sketches.

  • Working on vertical slice prototypes.

  • Knowledge and skills in Substance Painter & Designer.

  • Git or revision control experience.

  • Knowledge and skills in World Machine / Gaea.
