What this job can offer you

As part of the Payroll Risk and Compliance team, Reporting to the Senior Manager - Global Payroll Strategy & Compliance, this role is pivotal in driving compliance, process improvement, and risk management initiatives within the global payroll function. The Manager will lead a team of 4-5 direct reports, translating audit findings and compliance requirements into actionable product and process improvements, and ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

As Manager, Global Payroll Strategy & Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring payroll compliance across multiple jurisdictions while driving strategic initiatives that enhance efficiency, mitigate risk, and support business growth. You will lead a high-performing compliance team, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and shape the global payroll compliance framework to align with regulatory requirements and company objectives.

This role requires a combination of technical payroll expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to navigate the complexities of global payroll compliance while optimising processes and contributing to the broader business strategy.

What you bring

  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing high-performing teams in payroll compliance or a related field.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging across all organisational levels in a global and cross-functional environment.
  • Expertise in payroll compliance, including familiarity with international payroll legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to drive compliance improvements while balancing operational efficiency and business objectives.
  • Exceptional project management, organisational, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying risks and implementing solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex compliance matters into clear, actionable insights.
  • Fluency in English; experience working in remote or distributed teams is a plus.


Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing compliance team, building a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with key stakeholders, including Product & Operations to drive cross-functional collaboration on payroll compliance matters.
  • Ensure seamless communication with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular compliance updates, insights, and project progress reports.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of a robust global audit framework, ensuring alignment with company objectives and regulatory expectations.
  • Monitor and report on compliance KPIs, trends, and operational performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Oversee and support the completion of country audits, ensuring timely resolution of findings and robust documentation of outcomes.
  • Translate audit results into actionable process and product improvements, working closely with internal teams to implement solutions.
  • Lead compliance initiatives to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and automation, proactively mitigating potential risks.
  • Collaborate with the incident management team to bridge gaps between payroll operations and product development, ensuring regulatory compliance is embedded in our payroll systems and workflows.
  • Support the Senior Manager, Global Payroll Strategy & Compliance in shaping business plans and long-term strategic initiatives for the compliance function.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to streamline global payroll compliance, utilising technology and best practices.
  • Play a key role in the delivery of Neo, ensuring high-quality execution and adherence to deadlines to prevent bottlenecks and project delays.

At first glance our salary bands seem quite wide - here is some context. At Remote we have international operations and a globally distributed workforce.  We use geo ranges to consider geographic pay differentials as part of our global compensation strategy to remain competitive in various markets while we hiring globally.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $42,300 to $95,200.Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.
