What's the role?

A Lead/ Principal Engineer is expected to contribute towards HERE’s success by enabling HERE customers to succeed through a high quality and effective technical partnership.


As a Lead/ Principal Engineer in this role,

  • You will be driving development of HERE technology stack for automotive systems.
  • You will be exercising your expertise in the area of sensor technologies to build an efficient, modern and SDV-compliant software that enables a seamless interplay between in-vehicle systems and HERE services.
  • You will be collaborating with product and engineering teams to build-out, fine-tune and deploy software models into the stack.
  • A key part of the job will be around enabling an effective confluence of vehicle data with map through software capabilities in vehicle as well as on the cloud to provide most accurate possible information to the end-user and to the vehicle at appropriate times.
  • A key success factor of this role is determined by the end-user value created through the software infrastructure to ensure an up-to-date map in the vehicle. 
  • In this role, you will be expected to collaborate with a variety of technical as well as non-technical stakeholders, hence ability to meaningfully communicate across the board will be crucial. 
Who are you?
  • Strong computer science and software engineering fundamentals
  • Demonstrated mastery in edge software development, showcasing a track record of successful projects and solutions in automotive domain
  • Proven track record in developing edge software across various platforms such as embedded Linux, iOS, Android, QNX etc.
  • Proficiency in systems programming languages like C/C++, Rust etc
  • Hands-on experience in safety and performance sensitive software components
  • In-depth understanding of vehicle system architecture (eg. SDV, E/E)
  • In-depth understanding of advanced driver assistance as well autonomous driving systems
  • Experience in computer vision and ML technologies in automotive domain
  • Experience in building software components in the area of perception and sensor fusion is desirable
  • An in-depth understanding of location technologies and maps is desirable
  • An elaborate hands-on experience on automotive software development in the area of IVI as well as ROS is foundational to succeed in the role.

This position is located in Berlin, Germany. We provide relocation assistance for candidates relocating domestically within Germany.
