You will be part of a motivated engineering team working on map data processing. The team is responsible for a data onboarding and updating software stack and is integrated in the context of Mapmaking. We are handling typical map data, that is used for location services, such as navigation of vehicles and people (cars, transportation, and beyond).
You are working on geospatial data, using established and cutting- edge algorithms to improve our maps and enhance the map making machinery. Geospatial Data modelling (including map semantics),data processing, using visualizations and analytic tools, geometric and geospatial algorithms, etc. are your daily business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and hands on implementation of tools for efficient geospatial data processing
- Understanding of map data and integrating external data sets into normalized data models
- Serving as a technical authority and mentor, supporting the growth of engineers in the team and across multiple teams
- Partner with product, architecture, and leadership to translate business goals into actionable engineering plans
- Own software components and take responsibility on their further development
- Presenting developments and results for technical and non-technical audience
- Set and uphold high standards for engineering practices, code quality, and team collaboration
- Influence platform-wide technology decisions and drive the adoption of best practices
- Be part of an agile team, share knowledge, carry out code reviews.
- Establish transparency around execution, risk, & issues
Qualifications:
- Master or higher with a technical/analytical discipline, preferably in GIScience/Geoinformatics, Computer Science or related fields
- 8+ years of software engineering
- Strong applied skills Java/Scala, SQL, optional Python
- Familiar with AI and ML methods
- Experienced in Data modelling especially for geospatial map data
- Strong understanding of geospatial data formats and map semantics
- Strong technical background and understanding of software development processes & system architecture (e.g. CI/CD, code reviews, Git) including the knowledge/usage of cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS)
- Experienced in geospatial standards (e.g. OGC), Geospatial OSS, GDI and the corresponding software stack
- Experienced in collaboratively writing and deploying stable software
- Team player with the ability to work in a collaborative global environment
- Self-starter who is always looking for ways to improve the product and processes
